There is only one candidate who has the potential to heal this nation's soul.
And you know who it is. He has the potential; whether the potential will be realized or not is an open question.

We will have to wait and see.

Judging by the Bush vacation schedual you could probably fit the job in by sacrificing a few hours on the weekends.

2. "You know who it is"?
One: everyone is going to have a different opinion on whom it is.
Two: not everyone is going to agree that the proper pronoun to use is "He".

6. I haven't decided who I will support, but there is only one with that potential.
We have many fine candidates, but only one with the potential to heal the nation's soul. Whether he is the one to turn the page after 400 years I do not know, but it is possible, and that potential is exciting.

7. No I do not.
The nomination and/or election of Hillary Clinton would certainly make her-story, but it would begin to heal the deepest scars in the nation's soul. Only one candidate has the potential to achieve that.

15. Those are two truly outstanding men.
And yes, they have unique and unparalleled qualifications. Certainly either has the potential to be one of our greatest Presidents. Clark's skills are so needed now, and Gore's planetary vision.

We have so many outstanding individuals in our Party. Of the group running now, though, there is only one with the potential to heal the nation's soul. And that is something to think about, I think.

20. Well...certainly Gore's ideas have the potential to heal the planet.
Which trancends national boundaries. I believe that is why he has chosen not to run; he wishes to be the Planet's voice, not a partisan voice. He hopes to influence both Republicans and Democrats.

But as far as the great tear in the nation's soul our country has endured since it's inception, and even before, no, there is only one candidate that can begin to heal that and bring us all together as one people. Or at the very least, only one with that potential.

Sheesh. Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one.

I thought the opening debate gave us a good first look at the candidates 'on their feet.' Here's hoping that subsequent debates have substance to give us a better view.

I'm still undecided, your 'one candidate,' whosoever that might be, notwithstanding.

But Gore's not going to run. I just read today that a majority of Americans say they would not vote for him. That seems crazy to me, but apparently independents aren't crazy about Gore. Don't ask me why.

30. never say never
It makes me cranky. :)

Still a Gore candidacy would be a reckoning that many Americans would appreciate. Interestingly, there was a poll out recently that showed Gore doing better than the top three Dem contenders.

Regardless, I think 2008 is the Dems to lose.

29. There are 1,000 Candidates If WE TAKE OVER
It's not about the MAN or WOMAN of the hour - this focus on an INDIVIDUAL is part of the problem.

When the PEOPLE control the government, and the President responds to the WILL of the PEOPLE, we shall FINALLY be free of the paradigm of the GREAT LEADER, who has the RIGHT STUFF to heal us.

We don't NEED HEALING !!!

We DO need a government that serves US !!!

End of Story, with apologies for the SCREAMING !!!

50. Which people?

There are an awful lot of conservatives in America.

I think that unless you're redefining "we" halfway through your post, you're probably in trouble: the people the government ought to be controlled by are only slightly more than half of the people it ought to serve.

"There is only one candidate who has..."

So there is no need for me to give any others the critical evaluation they deserve. I'll just wait patiently until you, in your infinite wisdom, tell me who that candidate is. more :sarcasm:

It would be nice of you to tell me why you have eliminated all others, but since you are the one who knows all, I guess I should just trust your judgment, right???

44. Yes, Dennis Kucinich.

"What kind of citizenry consistently sneers at a candidate like Kucinich who openly declares for world peace to the most militarized nation on earth? (Hell, it's no crime to be three feet tall.)" -- Joe Bageant *

Actually Dennis is over five feet tall but the point is who cares whether he's tall like Obama or pretty like Edwards?

Either you want a real progressive or you want another centrist who'll keep on supporting NAFTA and globalism and dilly dally about ending the war in Iraq.

*For more of this particular rant of Joe's, go here:

Another quote from the same article:

"Simple action is available. Non-action really. If a quarter of Americans did not pay their bills for one month the hologram would come crashing down. The government would either come crawling on its knees, or expose itself for the police state it really is."

Still, Ron Paul vs. Hillary Clinton would be no contest. We need liberal SCOTUS justices - there really aren't any right now. Even the "liberals" like Stevens and Souter are authoritarian right-wingers when compared to the Warren court.
