Glen Beck Accusing a Republican guest of losing power because of Corruption
I know I know, the man is questionable but I need to know once in a while, his guest was not happy with the question by the way and got all huffy saying their loss was about Iraq,

I don't like this amy holmes person, simply anohter ann and michelle, sheesh, where do they find these people, she accused the dems of not having faith because they did not talk about it in the debates, also said Gulliania should push faith more, what does faith in relgion have to do with being a good presidential candidate? I have honestly had enough with that stupid talking point.

He is bashing the present Repubs though but pushing Romney because he feels he looks presidential but did acknowledge the stupidity of constantly using Reagans name as well as asking what he calls stupid questions of the candidates...

1. Faith in religion has nothing to do with being a good candidate

AuntPatsy; a determination to adhere to the principles of the Constitution is what matters. Look at what a miserable job so many of our current (and past) public servants have done, while wearing their religion on their sleeve. And, some have done quite wonderful work, but they tend not to play the "faith" card.

IMHO, if a candidate wants to make their religious affiliation known...fine...but the Constitution is quite clear that no religious test shall be required to hold public office or any position of public trust. To see these folks from the Right making the trek down to kiss Pat Robertson's ring is disgusting...and the Progressive Left, whose religious values I am more in line with, shouldn't be making it an issue either.

It's the Constitution, Dammit, that is at issue here...that, and how we intend to conduct ourselves in the foreign policy arena, and how we intend to strengthen our own citizens/institutions here at home.

Too many in this nation need a solid course in US History 101...and not the revisionist version being pawned off on a willing bunch of acolytes by the likes of David Barton and his Theocratic fellow-travellers...

I don't drink or smoke anymore...but I sure could use one now... :banghead:

edit for wrong emoticon

2. I agree wholeheartedly....but until the candidates refuse to play the
game, the much needed change in political engineering will not occur....

Conservative Columnist Cal Thomas Says Good Riddance to Shuttered Religious-Right Group

"Syndicated conservative columnist Cal Thomas rarely shies away from far-right rhetoric, but the former Moral Majority staffer seemed almost pleased that one religious-right group was closing up shop. On the shuttering of the Center for Reclaiming America for Christ, operated by ailing televangelist D. James Kennedy:...In an interview with the Rutherford Institute in 2002, Thomas commented on the argument “that the goal should be to reclaim America for Christ” – the name of Kennedy’s conference and group – “and, in effect, have the Christians take over”:
"Well, it was never the Christians’ country to begin with. I personally don’t want it to be a Christian nation for the same reason that I don’t want the federal government aiding the church. I think Bush’s whole faith-based initiative thing is one of the biggest camel noses in the tent that I have seen in my life. I wasn’t aware that God declared bankruptcy under Chapter 11. There is no mandate or expectation in Scripture that the state should fund the work of the things of God. I think that is extremely dangerous..."

end of section/

Conservative as this guy is, he seems to understand the proper role of religion in regard to politics

4. Lol, ummm, probably, I don't know to be honest but I sometimes

think that this new supposed outrage from the conservatives is coming a bit too late and the timing so close to the election leaves me suspect to their true motives, a good piece but I wonder why they didn't cry loud and far seven years ago instead of waiting until they realize public opinion is simply no longer on thier side by the majority of Americans considering they lost some of their power...

by the way, welcome regardless of motive...I honestly don't get on all that often myself, don't have the time but today has been one of those days that I finally have find to myself to do what I want and I do enjoy this site more so than others, it has much more to offer more of a diversity that I find challenging though some believe it to be one sided, I don't...

8. Thanks AuntPatsy (I actually had an aunt
named Pat, but we called her "Auntie Pat"...anywaaaay...I think Thomas, for all of his Conservative Christianity has been at odds with the Religious Right's conflation with politics for some time now. In 2000 he published a book "Blinded by Might: Why the Religious Right Can't Save America" in which he seems to take them to task for their attempts to use politics to further a religious agenda. I will admit that, while I have the book in my bookcase, I have yet to thoroughly read it...I promise to start tonite.

I could very easily be mistaken (as my wife and daughters remind me on a fairly consistent basis) but I think Thomas is a "True Believer" in his faith, but realizes that it has no place trying to broach the Constitutional proscriptions on Church/State relations.

I think he views government involvement in the affairs of the church as just as unpalatable.

In any case, he has been voicing this attitude since at least 2000...

6. Oh I know that, this is the first time that I actually watched more than
a few moments of the show but they did have a counterpart dem on and she did hold her own, he is by his own words a conservative mormon so it's obvious where his first loyalty lies even if he denied it, but if you had to watch as much faux as I have you wouldn't mind watching him, he is not as bad as quite a few of them....I think he goes more for laughs even if he is pushing an agenda, but what media talking head isn't these days.
