Politico wrote about Edwards haircut 8 times......Glenn Greenwald covers it.
It is the haircut that will not die.

He can spin it, he can gel it, he can mousse it. But it is not going away.

Roger Simon of The Politico wrote that. Isn't that cute?

Here is more of what Greenwald had to say.

Simon marvels at how enduring the story is -- as though there is some phenomenon keeping the story alive independent of the fact that the gossipy, tiny-minded, substance-free "political journalists" plaguing our nation -- from Roger Simon and Maureen Dowd to Adam Nagourney and Mickey Kaus and Matt Drudge -- have not stopped talking about "the story." It's tantamount to someone who keeps chewing their food and spitting it across the room and then marvelling at how filthy things are and writing columns bewilderingly examining how and why the floor is covered with crusted food and what that signifies.

This is at least the eighth time that The Politico -- which gloriously "broke" the story -- has referenced Edwards' haircut. The featured article yesterday is the second on this topic from Simon, who is not a mere columnist, but is The Politico's "Senior Political Columnist."

Even The Politico -- for which no story is too petty or Drudge-following -- seems embarrassed by its obsession. Thus, Simon claims in his article that he "was willing never to write about the haircuts again," and The Politico's front page headline claims: "Roger reluctantly takes another look at the haircut that will not die." In the article itself, Simon offers up this excuse for why he is writing his "newspaper's" eighth story in less than two weeks about John Edwards' hair:

This is bad: When you go to Google and enter "Edwards haircut," the first item that comes up is a story by Bill Wundram in The Quad-City Times of Davenport, Iowa. . . . The article got 324 comments from readers. When people inside the Beltway are talking about your haircut, it doesn't matter much. When people in Iowa are talking about your haircut, you may have a problem."

It is pathetic, truly. But it is no worse at all than the constant attacks by people here at DU.

At least The Politico makes no claim to like Democrats.

Bill Clinton once said about Iraq: "I want it to have been worth it."
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/1220

He supported the war, his wife voted for it...but Edwards is the one who mainly takes the heat here for his vote. That's a shame, too. More of a shame than the Politico writing about Edwards' hair 8 times.

2. Yes, it is happening. And this post will be ignored.
I posted some responses to this total attack on Edwards for things others did as well but are not attacked for.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=3252682&mesg_id=3252682

"However, there were some facts - some new to me in this question he asked Edwards today.
After going again through the "I didn't know it was bad to vote for war" thingy, Snafi asked Edwards if he thinks apologizing is not a sign of weakness. "No" came the rightful answer from Edwards.
But then, Snaffi put up a list of other 4 Senate votes Edwards has been apologizing:
1. No Child left Behind(NCLB)
2. The Bankruptcy Law
3. Yucca Mountain
4. Trade with China"

So I posted some responses.

Same one Hillary voted for in 2001 0r 2002?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=3252682&mesg_id=3253124

Do you mean this NCLB bill on which only 8 voted no?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=3252682&mesg_id=3253182

And which trade with china bill was that?

5. Shouldn't the point of this board to be enlightening others?
No disrespect intended but wouldn't it be more helpful to ensure accurate information be spread instead of constant inaccuracies?

11. I didn't see the op of that particular thread calling it all fact, I honestly
felt that they were looking for someone to help in sorting it all out...my opinion anyway.

10. And one post made it sound like Edwards was the lone wolf...
on the China trade bill. Not hardly. It was Bill Clinton's baby and most everyone voted for it in 2000.

Right or wrong, those are the facts.

12. And it is a good fact to know, there is just so much out there lately
that I know for some having to rebutt certain allegations gets old but considering what we are facing in today's political arena don't you feel that one needs to continue helping to fight off such accusations until at least we are once again in control of the whitehouse?

9. Thanks, I am starting to read that now.
Edwards is very much like Dean on some issues. Dean as governor knew he had to do what was best for his state, but when he was running for president he looked at things differently. Dean is pro-business but not when it hurts the country.

There is a fine line.

DU attacks are finding no "fine line"...they are just attacks.

such..how they beat that man down in the primarys still angers me today, I recall yelling at the talking pundits until the hubby would make me turn off the news...

17. It will be done to all but the chosen.
The snide questions, the innuendo.

One day recently Wolf was pushing Dean to the limit over something Dean had been asked not to speak on....policy. Dean finally shook his head and sort of chuckled, but not in a funny way. He told Blitzer that he was really very good at that stuff. It was obvious what he meant.

All of our media talking heads are there for a reason. They each have a niche to fill.

6. I just posted responses in my 2nd post in this thread.
Hope they are helpful.

It is like they are centering in on things that were going on with many Democrats...and using Edwards as the target.

Every one of us supporting Edwards know about his votes. Just like those of us who supported Dean knew his stances on everything.

14. I wasn't trying to hurt Edwards by any means, bottom line is I am voting
democratic no matter what, I am just like everyone else in trying to sort it all out, not always having the time or energy that others do to do the sorting.

I really admire all you do you know and always read your posts, so I hope I am in no way being offensive.

15. You weren't being that way. Others are.
It is impossible to keep up with all the attacks here on him.

There are questions about every candidate that need to be answered. Every single one.

I have some info I am trying to figure out how to post, but I may not.
