4. Great post!
I'm very proud of our candidates. No, I don't agree with every one of them on everything, but I think any of them (with the exception of Gravel...sorry) would make a wonderful president.

I can see Gravel in the Cabinet, though.

6. I like Democrats too!
I have a favorite in the field but I like all of our candidates. All that matters in the end is that we have a Democratic White House.

27. I'll have to mull this one
I have a few negative associations with some, but I don't know if they're based on fact or just reading other people's strident opinions.

In a perfect world, I'd rather support candidates that had been strongly against the war from the beginning, and candidates that are proudly in favor of true civil rights for GLBTs, but I recognize that there are political reasons I can't have that right now, and I'd rather not let the perfect become the enemy of the good. I don't feel any of them are actually anti-gay or pro-war (just timid about taking a firmer stand), which would be a deal breaker for me.

11. Wouldn't it be a kick to
piece together bits of all of them? Sadly, doing a Frankenstein is not ethical. There is no one "perfect" presidential candidate but for the first time in a long time, we have an all star playing field. It's going to be hard for most to choose. The Repukes are struggling with their contenders and it looks like we will be able to take the White House in 2008. The focus here is that we stand together when that time comes.

Great Post!

The Dem field is looking good to ma too -- it's not a bad idea to appreciate the strengths of all these exceptional people. They all reprepsent someone looking to end the horrible, dark Bush ages, they are all taking on a monster.

I think we're all kind of out of practice with having hope and good prospects for the future, and maybe too used to attack mode after so much darkness.

War is over (if we want it).

I just don't think it's necessary. I'm definitely leaning toward one, but I would be pleased with others.

28. Questioning doesnt equal demonization...
Edited on Wed May-02-07 04:33 PM by IA_Seth
It's about time people stood up a little taller, quit taking every question personally, and supported their candidate by answering the lingering questions that are out there.

DU certainly doesn't represent the Democratic base, if anything we are much more likely to vote D (no matter what) than most people out there...and if WE are questioning a candidate's judgment or actions, don't you suppose that others are as well? We should be working to perfect our defense, educate our base, and vet our candidates...not slapping each other on the back and cheerleading (at least not all the time :))

Baseless smears are one thing, but if there is a link to a quote or other substantive article, its not a flippin smear. People are way too quick to get whiney and way too slow to defend their position.

29. Of course, and I'm not talking about just questioning and discussing
It's the voice and haircut nonsense combined with vitriolic, accusative "questions" that make the supporters feel like both they and their candidates are being attacked. I just don't see the need for hostility in order to have debate.

32. But...
...the devil is in the details. The other problem is that you can't always believe what every politician says he stands for. As soon as he sells-out once, all credibility is lost.
