Bill Moyers is Walter Cronkite for the current generation...
Edited on Sat Apr-28-07 12:03 AM by Bicoastal
...anyone doubt it?

His program this week, "Buying the War," is one of the best, sturdiest, most airtight argument I've ever seen that cable-news journalism has hijacked our country's belief systems as surely and disasterously as the Bush administration did when they took office.

Moyers is an example of the person we should be listening to--serious, educated, credible, well-respected, sensible, and above all, unwilling to be purchased by any huge congolomerate. This, of course, insures that he will never become a popular figure in the mainstream. Public broadcasting, as usual, remains the nation's best source of enormously talented and intelligent people that America doesn't care about.

I'm in my 20's, and most of my friends don't watch serious news programs on regular TV, much less a network off the main dial--so I'm going to insist that every one of them go to PBS.org and watch "Buying the War" online. There's no hope that Moyers will ever become a household name like O'Reilly and Hannity (too adult), but maybe a few will learn how to question the current events they're spoon-fed by the press by the time they reach the mid-30's demographic. And if I can get just a couple to watch what I just saw, I'll be happy.

:applause: Bravo, Bill.

ON EDIT: A link to the video. It's presented in 5 parts, and well worth watching to the end.

2. K and R. I'm working to convince my extended family, that grew up on MSM, that
it's all junk and to turn it OFF! Moyer's piece was stunning -- we've been sold a massive bill of goods, (of course something DUers were already on to), and very few reporters are willing to proclaim that fact.

7. I wish some pirate tv operator would interupt American Idol to show this.
Everyone...EVERYONE...needs to see that show.

You know he made a big splash with the show because of the all the damage control going on by other "journalists" already.

I wonder why PBS chose to run Moyers' special up against American Idol, especially on a night when AI is doing a telethon, complete with celebrity guests?

I hope PBS has plans to re-run the documentary, it was a very enlightening, and well put together piece of journalism. Moyers is back, and he's pulling no punches. I was jumping for joy at the end when he named the journalists and MSM execs who declined to be interviewed, I thought that was very telling. Of course, I don't blame them, I'd be ashamed as well.

Moyers & Tenet should stay away from small aircraft.

Oh, did I mention, I HATE AMERICAN IDOL!!!
