Call the asshole's bluff. He wants "what it'll take to win victory"? Give it to him.
He'll veto that one too.

to answer like this EVERY time he or she is confronted by some smart-ass trying to bait him/her with the bullshit line "well, if he/she had the courage of his/her convictions, he/she would vote to cut off the funds for the war."

Okay. So be it. Then they should hit back with: "well, if you had the courage of YOUR convictions, since you support this war so much, YOU'D reinstitute THE DRAFT!" Btw - I wish I could take credit for such a shrewd remark, but I found it in another post here. My apologies for not keeping better track of who first came up with this one.

3. Mine
are 41 and 34. They each have two young children and the older one is a vet. The younger one would be considered medically unfit.

Though I served as a reservist during the 60's the draft was alive and well at the time. It would be a good system during times of need if the unnecessary deferments used by many considered to be rich were eliminated. There is enough elitist crap in this country. Deferments for draftees with children should be considered if the need allows. If the need is great like WWII, no deferments.
