Is it bad that I don't care?

It seems that everyone on DU has a favortie candidate in the running. I know that Kucinich is idealistic and courageous. I know that Obama exudes excessive charisma. I know that Clinton is a powerhouse with connections. Edwards is Kennedy-esque,. Dodd and Richardson seemed adequate. Biden was the voice of reason. And Gravel rocked as the straight-shooting curmudgeon.

Each and every one of them would make a better executive and Commander-in-Chief than the brat-king. All of them would be better for America.

I know the point may be moot in that I won't be voting for any of them in the primaries, but...



Why should I care who gets the nomination?

1. It doesn't matter. We don't really decide. Big money does. It's

comforting to know all the top contenders are rational and would make good presidents.

2. bush got the republican nomination because voters were jaded

and felt disconnected from the process and unexcited about their choices.

Do you really need a better example of why you should care?

I hope it stays civil and whoever wins puts most of the rest of them in the cabinet, as long as we maintain majorities

4. There are hugely different Democrats

Why settle for marginally better when getting involved now means you can get significantly better.

Obama and Edwards will be very different Presidents than Hillary or Biden. And Kucinich or Gravel would be even more different still.

If you don't like the way the Democratic Party goes in the general election, you need to get involved now to change it.

5. I would urge you not to tune out of the primary candidates completely

After all, the only way to shake up the establishment and try to choose the nominee is by participating in the process.

But as for the debates themselves, I don't care either. Not this early on. I think a lot of time also gets wasted by vanity candidates that have no chance (yeah I might get flamed but don't care)...Note, I'm not saying they shouldn't participate, just that IMO I never found debates with many different people particularly informative or effective.
