Reid for Vice President?
What would people think about Harry Reid as the running mate to one of our top contenders? If Richardson's the nominee he may not be as valuable but with Hillary, Edwards or Obama?

I'd rate the chances pretty slim, given his age, the fact that he probably prefers being in the Senate and the fact the fact that he's somewhat conservative on certain issues. But I think we could do a lot worse, and he'd certainly excel as the "attack dog".

2. I'm not taking anyone out of the Senate if I can avoid it.
And no swing state governors, either. You can have anyone else you want. Who is also a Democrat.

And this is hard for me because I think Sheldon Whitehouse would be a FABULOUS VEEP! Can you see him presiding over the Senate? Can you?

vice presidency.

He's Mormon, and fair or not, polls suggest U.S. voters are cool toward the idea of a Mormon in the White House, and maybe by extension the veep spot too. Not sure how they'd respond.

Reid is up for re-election in 2010, isn't he? He may want to concentrate on re-election and then working with the Democratic winner in 2008 to bring the Constitution back into vogue in Washington after what by 2008 will have been (8) years of abandonment by Bush.

7. No senators from Republican-governed states for vice president.

Harry Reid might well make a very good vice president, but we need him where he is too much to give him that chance, I think.
