General Clark surrenders to force of Kerry
However, the endorsement of General Wesley Clark came as allegations against the Massachusetts senator and Vietnam war hero were threatening his runaway campaign.

The Drudge Report, the right-wing news website which broke the Monica Lewinsky scandal, claimed a woman close to Kerry recently left America at his behest.

It was reported that Clark, the former Nato supreme allied commander, had told reporters in an off-the-record conversation last week: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue."

Matt Drudge, the internet columnist, said three reporters could confirm the comments by Clark, who quit the race for the party's nomination on Wednesday amid poor results.

He also claimed that Time magazine, ABC News, the Washington Post and the Associated Press – where the woman in question was said to have once worked – had been investigating her relationship with Kerry for several days.

4. here is a link where AP and WP respond
Reached by E&P for comment, AP spokesman Jack Stokes said, "We simply don't comment on stories we are pursuing or not pursuing."

Leonard Downie Jr., executive editor of The Washington Post, acknowledged that his staff had begun to dig deeper into the life and career of Kerry, but said he had not heard anything about an alleged infidelity. "What we're finding, I don't know," he said. "This is the first we are looking into him this way."

comment : WP and AP did not exactly "deny" any investigation ....they just refuse to comment
