Sen. Mikulski endorses Hillary
Mikulski Named National Chair Of Hillary For President Campaign

Posted on April 24, 2007:

WASHINGTON - Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) today enthusiastically endorsed Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) for President of the United States. Senator Mikulski joins Governor Tom Vilsack (D-Iowa) as a National Chair of the Hillary for President campaign. As a National Chair, Senator Mikulski will act as a national surrogate, speak on behalf of the candidate, aid in the development of campaign strategy, and help bring Senator Clinton's message to core constituencies.

"I have only the greatest respect for our field of Democratic candidates, but today I am proud to endorse Senator Clinton for President. I believe Hillary will bring us together around the smart solutions to America's problems. She is results-driven and a pragmatist who will put this nation back on track, whether it's ending the war in Iraq, providing educational opportunities for our children, restoring our standing in the world, or addressing our increasing deficit," said Senator Mikulski. "As the first Democratic woman elected to the Senate in my own right, I am honored to take on this role at the request of Senator Clinton, who is breaking the last public barrier for women in public life."

3. I think she would have called Gore to learn of his intentions before accepting the gig with HRC.
This makes me think she must know that Gore isn't running.

5. Probably stick with her first choice. The Senate is very collegial.
She wouldn't serve on the campaign if she was gonna bolt later. She may well have vetted the decision with the VP, as well.

And if Gore won the primary, everyone--including Hillary--would work FOR him. Same way if HRC wins--everyone--including Edwards and Obama--would work FOR her.

It's what we do. We back the winner. Whosoever it may be.

7. I guess it's looking more and more like he isn't going to run
he's evidently been giving the ok for some of his major supporters to support other candidates. Perhaps she checked with him before endorsing HRC?
