The Dem's made there point on the Iraqi war funding...
Of course I am disappointed and chagrined by the "compromise"...

But, if you remember correctly, the Executive always wins in a pissing match...

Especially if his party is standing firm with him...

Clinton stood up to Newt and company over spending cuts and Newt Blinked...

In a protracted war, the executive will always win...

You have to also remember that we have the barest majorities in the Senate...

And we do not have a veto proof majority in the House...

So you would continue to get in a shouting match with the man who has the largest microphone in the world...

Or get out of the way and frame the next debate as this one was framed by the Dem's in Congree...

Just think, how often really does Nancy P get a chance to have unfettered access to the American public like Bush does...

We need to move on and pick the next battle...

It's politics...

It's trench warfare...

We lost the battle...

But can still win the war...

Rhetorically speaking, of course...

1. It's his war, they are going to let the bastard choke on it.
And they aren't going to let up on the heat either.

2. Great points, but one has to wonder
about Republican success in filibustering the Medicare bill today. When given the same opportunity with Alito, Democrats failed to use it.

On what core issues will the Dems use whatever leverage they have? With more than 70% of Americans, 38% if Republican, and more than half of Republican caucus goers in line with the Dems position, Iraq seems like the issue to take the Republican and the Administration to task about.

3. I think they will go top the mat on Min Wage and next years
big issue, a reworking of the Alternative Minimum Tax provision...

These are big issue for core constituencies that I know they will go to the mat on...

Remember, the soldiers are already there...

There realistically isn't much we can do to force his hands on this...

4. Sadly,
with soldiers dying they must at least appear to be doing something forceful.
