Jon Stewart just did about 10 minutes of solid a news interview
Jon was talking to Allawi (?????) an Iraqi who wrote the book,
"Iraq, Winning the Peace and Losing the War."

I think that is the title. Stewart was awesome and his guest, an Iraqi,
was great too. Jon touched on the shooting @ VA Tech and the blood
letting in Iraq. His guest brought real knowledge and dignity to a tough
subject.

Give me a Jon Stewart, Stephanie Miller, Keith Olbermann, and Bill Moyers any day.

Funny with the right wing control over so much of the media seeing and hearing the truth
seems almost like a different language.

2. I agree.
Great Interview. Not at all funny, but sometimes, that's O.K. too.

3. It reminds me that Jay Leno did a great job with Nancy on...

the Tonight Show. Just a nice interview that let her speak her side of the story on issue like her oversea trip.

The real news is coming from the comedy shows and the news... well it's becoming a joke.

hmmmmm

4. I'm convinced that Leno isn't as Republican as some think...
...he's just overly concerned with playing to both sides of the aisle, especially when the wind seems to be favoring one particular viewpoint. People though he was a Republic during the Recall, but Arnold is apparently a good friend of his...

All that aside, Leno isn't particularly funny anymore. Can't wait for Conan to take over!

11. Leno says he is a liberal. His wife certainly is, too. I think he is just a good friend
of Arnold's and that he is a bit of a suck-up.

17. It was nice! And finding out about dark chocolate & ice cream daily, made me
like her even more.

But I still can't forgive him for still doing Clinton jokes through the wealth of material * provides him with.

5. I noticed that the interview came early in the show
Stewart did a great job. Even Colbert did an acceptable interview tonight: He actually let the interviewee say a few words. Jon was awesome. Some of the best interviewing on TV when he wants to do so!

18. In 2000, Dave Letterman did the ONLY serious interview with W - ANWR and
other issues - and managed to reveal him snippy and rude (wiping his glasses on the assistant's jacket)

7. I was just thinking about how Keith Olberman was a sports caster at one time.
And, how absolutely brilliant and well suited he is for what he's doing now. I'm sorry I missed John S's interview, I'll try to catch it tomorrow.

9. The audience was very attentive as well.
Jon made Allawi feel welcome and his questions were as thoughtful as Allawi's answers.

12. I think you got the book's title backwards.
Edited on Thu Apr-19-07 08:23 AM by chemenger
I think it's 'Winning the War, Losing the Peace.'

On Edit: and you're absolutely right ... Jon Stewart handled the interview with Allawi like a seasoned professional news anchor. If CBS has plans to replace Katie Couric in the near future I think Jon would be a fabulous replacement for her.

On edit again: so would KO.

16. Don't disagree
but I really like Stewart where he is. My sister pointed The Daily Show out to me when Kilborne was running it, and though Kilborne was okay, I think Stewart is definitely an improvement.

And I agree that Jon did a great interview last night. I hope Wolf Blitzer and the rest of the "real" journalists tivoed it so they can see how it's supposed to be done.

14. Bravo, Jon!
That WAS a great interview! Can you imagine any of the right-wing blowhards conducting an interview and posing questions even HALF as insightful and relevant as Stewart's? Jon Stewart rocks.

19. In all fairness, Cheney did it, Jon just kicked the corpse to the curve
Once upon a time, Crossfire was one hour long and some relevant discussions occasionally took place. I remember we used to discuss them on DU back then. So, Dead Eye Dick, makes a phone call....just like he did before - to kill The Spin Room.
