Bush: I will only sign a clean bill. Does that mean that he is referring
Edited on Wed Apr-11-07 01:07 PM by lyonn
to the Dems bill as a "dirty bill"? This administrations play on words is getting a bit old, but, it seems to work. We have all heard about his/the "clean bill". The press secretary kept saying this today during the press conference and it went All Over Me. Just had to comment.

Sent an e-mail to Feingold with this observation.

Edit: Maybe I should have mentioned this was referring to the Iraq supplemental bill. She explains how bush wants to talk to the leaders in Congress about His Wants. Not a discussion which implies give and take. It's one of bush's my way or the highway deals. Let's hope his balking at any other suggestions backfires big time come the elections.

1. Nah,
He's referring to Bill Bennett. He won't sign Bill McCollum.

2. Clean as in "no bugs", "no accountability", "no evacuation deadlines"
...."no end" to Bush's DIRTY WAR! :wtf:

This Democratic Congress along with the republicans who are finally awakening to the truth about Bush's war must hold this lying bastard George Dubya Bush to a commitment to end this outrageous corrupt war before his term in office is over.

5. It's the use of His words "Clean Bill" that is so typical of the BS
Edited on Wed Apr-11-07 01:20 PM by lyonn
that is being fed to the public.

Edit: Dems should insist that their bills are not considered "Dirty" since this is a democracy and are entitled to different views on legislation. We will hear nothing on this bushie terminology, it will fly like all the other deceptive tactics.

3. Well, George Bush is known for vetoing pork-laden budget bills
I mean, that's why only 2 of the 13 spending bills for FY2007 were passed before the election last year. Bush was out in the Rose Garden vetoing those bills left, right, and center.

What did the Democrats realistically expect from such a fiscally-responsible champion of the people?

7. It's a new standard
Bush signed every appropriations bill sent to him when Congress was controlled by the Republicans. He never quibbled about anything, although he did issue signing statements with abandon, saying that while he was signing a bill, he didn't intend to follow its plain language.

Of course, now that Congress isn't being run by his supine minions, he knows that his little signing statements won't stand up to judicial scrutiny, and the Democrats will indeed challenge them, where the Republicans would not.

So he's suddenly come to the realization that he wants nothin' but clean, clean, clean bills for the rest of his administration. Unfortunately, the legislative process doesn't work that way, and the Democratic leadership reminds him of that every day. And he stamps his little feet in impotent frustration.

10. That was special wasn't it - signing a bill and then a signing statement
allowing him to ignore the new bill. The Homeland Security bill was just chuck full of goodies for the bushies. Homeland should be shucked first chance we get. Lordy, FEMA is nothing anymore than a paycheck for those favored ones.

9. They should make him veto the bill.
Make it clear to all Americans who wants to bring the troops home from Iraq and who wants to keep them there indefinitely. The Democrats should not capitulate to Bush's bullying.
