Reverend Sharpton "Frames" Argument to Reinstate "Fairness Doctrine" on "Hardball" w/David Gregory!
He did good on Hardball by pointing out that the Airwaves shouldn't be allowed to spew Racist, Sexist (and I might ad Homophobic) stuff out there.

Many want to make this whole Imus thing about HIM and his supposed "Good Works" and others don't know who the heck Imus even is.

But, Imus personifies alot of what's wrong with America in that our Media Culture is filled with cynical people who work for "themselves" and don't look a the Big Picture of the Culture around them.

Did you ever notice that those Media Pundits, Anchors and Commentators are all pumping themselves UP while they trash and diss those around them? They make their money off pushing American People DOWN!

They try to devalue our vote, our lifestyles, our ambitions, our needs and experience all to further THEIR OWN ambitions.

1. reagan got rid of the fairness doctrine and right wing hate radio was born
Its incredibly telling that limbaugh and hannity fear the concept of fairness. Colbert was right. Truth has a liberal bias.

2. Easy fix, but difficult in execution.
Let's crank up a mass movement to define, officially, denigrating and hate speech around race, religion, sexual assignment, etc. as hard pore corn.

After all, the definition of pornography is at its neo-con best, right now. I consider an appreciative glance at an attractive breast as one hell of a lot prettier than the ugliness and thinly veiled ugliness that gets vomited out by the wingy dingies.

In my mind, hate, torture, turning perfectly nice young people into humanburger, sexist, bigoted, homophobic, molestation crap is the very worst kind of pornography.

A nipple notice (after 9? pm:) ) most certainly is not.

3. I missed that part?
Though I think Sharpton is a bit of a hypocrite, I appreciated his comments on this discussion extending to current music.

4. Kicked and recommended
I agree, Imus is just an symptom of a much larger problem with the mass corporate media, I also believe this why many were quick to come out and defend him. It seems to me the media is much harsher with an actor or comedian when they spew racist garbage, than one of their own.

Thanks for the thread KoKo

5. Sharpton said it's ALL ABOUT ACCOUNTABILITY on the AIRWAVES!
He said: "Don Imus prefers Amnesty over Redemption. Don Imus get's a "two week Time Out" for his comments.

I thought he "Framed the Issue" in a way that would support bringing back the "Fairness Doctrine."

6. I thought "Do you believe in redemption" was a weird question!!
And a loaded one. Shame on David Gregory for that, and for dragging in Tawana Brawley again.

8. what good is redemption
Edited on Tue Apr-10-07 07:04 PM by SemperEadem
when the person who is seeking it is insincere? If this was truly about redemption, a second incident wouldn't exist, let alone a third, fourth, fifth, etc. Sharpton's right: people are confusing redemption with amnesty. It's "aw shucks, folks... there he goes again..." No. He said it.. he was grown enough to say it now let him be grown enough to take his ass whippin' for it.

Redemption happens only once. Imus has proudly established a pattern of behavior and has never taken anyone's complaints about it seriously--nor has MSNBC for that matter.

7. Hardball Video with Craig Crawford (Imus Apologizer) VS Clarence Paige (Rutgers Girls Defender)

Worth it to hear the Counterpoint and David (Rapping with MC Rove's) shilling for NBC/MSNBC in trying to support Imus for his career while he tries "to be FAIR & BALANCED."

It makes me :puke:
