. . .If you want to remove the President's command, you have to remove the President. There is only one way for Congress to do it--impeachment. . .

2. Not really, there are other checks and balances
other than that but yes, that would definitely do it as it is the ultimate check.

5. Is he serious?
He is such an apologist, and a dangerous one at that, for the chimp...

If he was serious, I'd be very surprised...

9. No, he is calling out.
He is saying that Congress can't take "command" of the mission in Iraq - but if they want to they should "Impeach" to remove the commander. It is sort of like a double-down dare.

7. He may have said it
but I'm sure he doesn't mean he's in favor of doing it. John "I'll crush your kid's testicles" Yoo in favor of impeachment?????

11. Not even Yoo's lunacy can ignore the ultimate trump card we gave Congress.
Edited on Tue Apr-10-07 03:04 PM by pat_k
His "theory" (fascist fantasy) is that the Office of the President has absolute and unbounded power -- can commit war crimes, violate FISA, order aggressive war, put babies on spikes. . .whatever. . . to "protect us" as "commander in chief" -- unless of course Congress impeaches and removes.

Lunacy of course, but not even he cannot get around the fact that we gave Congress -- our voice -- ultimate power over the executive and judicial branches. He is acknowledging something that propagandists have obscured through endless repetition of "the branches share power equally," and "co-equal branches."

The branches DO NOT share power equally. When we vested Congress with the power of impeachment we put a big fat thumb on the scales.

When Pelosi took our trump card "off the table," she surrendered the nation to lunacy like Yoo's. Under the adage "possession is 9/10ths of the law" (an adage firmly grounded in common law) the Office of the President under Bush and Cheney has taken ownership of Unconstitutional powers and will continue to wield that power until Congress takes out the "lethal" weapon we gave them.

When squatters take openly hostile possession of your property and you fail to take action to evict them they take title, and poof! Your property is no longer yours.

Surrendering your property to squatters is insanity, but that insanity does not compare to the magnitude of the insanity of surrendering a nation to the squatters in the WH.
