The scariest f@$king person I know
On one of the innkeeper message boards I belong to, there is a guy who is a true flat-earther. He muddles along quietly for a while and then posts something totally unrelated to any on-going discussion and posts these long diatribes with 9 million words carefully researched from his thesaurus so that even our feeble little minds can appreciate his great intelligence. Of 200 members on the board, I would guess 196 of them just delete his stuff without reading it (I read them because I'm one of the sick f*#ks who looks for the bloody body parts as we drive by car wrecks)

But what really got me the other day was when he posted this whole disjointed, but very passionate denial of anything Global Warming - what a big hoax it was and all. And it really creeped me out. This guy has no clue just how brainwashed he is. Think about it. If the people who believe that Global Warming are totally wrong (in spite of all the evidence) and that there isn't a problem - then why does Bob have to be so vocally against them?

What's in it for him if they are all as wrong as he is claiming? Nothing. The earth would chug on just like it's doing, no one needs to change their lifestyles, we don't wind up with any of the dire predictions coming true. So Bob could simply sit back and let these people who talk about Global Warming act like Chicken Little all they want and then simply look like idiots when their predictions fail to come true.

But he's gotten so brainwashed by his hate radio programming - that he just automatically takes up the causes that he's been told he should without any thought to if it's good for him or makes one bit of different. He's the dutiful stormtrooper, marching forward into battle without ever once considering who is controlling him and if their goals have anything to do with his best interest.

Do you remember learning about Hitler and all and thinking how could the rest of the Germans let this happen? Why did the outside world have to step in to stop the atrocities instead of the population standing up and saying "not in our name"? Things that were happening that were so wrong, each of us just automatically questions how it was possible for so few to never be stopped by so many, and how many there were who were simply willing to follow orders, even when it meant doing the sickest things to other humans.

Guys like Bob...

1. Shrubs fodder is blind faith and mindless Sycophancy ,it's revered
in oppressive times ,which Shrub probably doesn't realize is what he wants.

2. there's a book called 'Twilight of Common Dreams'
by Todd Gitlin, former hippie activist (SDS) and PBS honcho who, like horowitz and hitchens etc turned away from the idealism of 60's and noticed ALL the flaws in our youthful exhuberent thinking. In his book, Gitlin explains the 'Bob' character you mention, his role in US politics. Published in 1995, 'Twilight/common dreams' explores how the left, by pushing too hard in counterculture era, caused a reaction that...well it certainly destroyed the 'left' and made the rightwing domme by default. And race was one factor. 'Bob' is white. The men running corporate america/world are mostly white (thus a low paid janitor has more in common with the ceo's and the Loonimatti/Buggerburghers etc then he has with his fellow worker) Needless to say, it was white men, writing and broadcasting and making movies etc who arranged the alliance between dupes and the dupe users ...blah blah blah
To unravel the psychological tieing-in-knots of the most powerful demographic on earth (michael moore, sean penn, noam chomsky, the guys at AAR, Clinton, Cindy Sheehan, Al Gore, Kucinich, Sen Wellstone, Fidel Castro and myriad DU'ers are WHITE!) will never happen but it's simply this- lies are easy, simple to explain while truth= complex as an onion peeled with oven mitts! Rightwing = the privileges of the few supercede all while Leftwing = needs of the many are main issue....and rightwing trumps the left in georgebushamerica! When even Todd Gitlin can't see it's his future, his Children, who are gonna die just like everyone else in the shakedown that's coming no matter how much we LIE (though it might take them a lil longer(?))
Bob hates himself

3. Interesting, I may have to get that book. I always thought he needed
the attention to be focused on himself (his very white self at that)

6. he explains reagan, a bit..
the white male demographic, and its role in the reagan devolution(;)) and so on...i read it prior to 911 and, even with the understanding therein cannot fathom why the dershowitz's, hitchens, horowitz's, silvers, kristols, goldbergs etc could even give reagan one minute of faith, no matter how sincere Ronald was himself! Gitlin never went as far over to the right as the others (he seems to have met Kevin Phillips 1/2 way!) and his books do teach... but it tinges of dishonesty to overestimate capitalism at this date, no matter how good things were for that certain minority in the post WW2 era! It still was obvious what losing the good fight meant, and i'm not near as smart as Gitlin (or any of those i mentioned)...maybe it's cuz i'm not all 'white'(?)

4. In the 1970's they
were saying that there was global cooling and I think that was wrong, but this global warming stuff is real and already killing animals.

5. No serious scientist beleived in "Global Cooling" back in the 70s.
The "Global Cooling" nonsense was a creation of journalists and bad popular science writers.

8. From Limbaughs lips to this moran's ears.

It evokes a conditioned response. These idiots who listen to the RW hatemongers are not capable of thinking for themselves. This is why they tune in to their favorite RW radio station. They have to find out just what the thoughts du jour are on any given topic. If they couldn't get a daily dose of hate and disinformation they would walk around dazed and confused and that wouldn't be a pretty sight to behold.
