Barack Obama speaks on public funding of campaigns and how we must pressure Congress to get it done
http://www.campaignmoney.org/files/flash/clip/obama-on-his-support-for-public-financing

Senator and 2008 Presidential hopeful Barack Obama speaks at this campaign event about his support for public financing of campaigns as outlined by his fellow Senator from Illinois, Richard Durbin (D) in the Fair Elections Now Act. He emphasizes the importance of rallying grassroots support behind winning public financing -- because legislators will need pressure from the public before they will act on it.

2. Definitely need reform quickly. It is really a shame.........
and I mean "a shame" how money is so key on how we select our government...even more so with the large primary states all moving their dates up.

Without reform on election funding and the media, our democracy is not worth a damn!

3. A rare point of disagreement.
I don't want my tax dollars going to campaigns of candidates I can't stand. But, I'll be glad to have a President who will finally do something about the campaign finance problem, even if it isn't my first choice of solutions.

6. Imagine the tax dollars you'd have saved if public financing had defeated Bushdom either time. nt

8. That's speculative.
What do you think the public response will be the first time tax dollars go to support a candidate for the New Nationalist Socialist Party?

11. Candidates are required to meet thresholds in numbers of small donations, etc.
Durbin's plan for Congressional funding for campaigns would allow a $500 tax credit for donations to the Fair Elections Campaign Fund. This seems like a very good incentive for us taxpayers.

12. I'm with you on this one
And in this campaign, since Clinton threw the gauntlet down about taking no public funds, Edwards and Obama had to follow suit. I wish this would get fixed and I hope it will in the future.

And, again, kudos to them all!
