Chuck Schumer for President
Can anyone give me a reason why Chuck Schumer wouldn't make an excellent President? Every time I see him, I'm more and more impressed.

1. What issues has he taken up and led on during his years in the senate?
That's usually a good indicator of what one would be like as president.

2. He's in too important a position in the US Senate right now to run for POTUS
Given his performace today in grilling Kyle Sampson over the coals, he would be too valuable to replace in the position he now holds. (not that any Senator is indispensible, far from it)

3. Because he is too impressed with himself to care about anyone else
Its all for show, trust me. I have been watching Schumer for years. If it won't get press coverage then I doubt he would really care about it. I like his attacking of the Repubs but thia guy really is so enmeshed in the pro-corporate side of politics.

5. One question: could he beat Rudy next year?
If he could, then run him. If not, forget it. Nothing matters to me except winning with a Dem in November 2008. 30 or forty YEARS of the SCOTUS is at stake!

6. Chucky
He can't win. He is viewed as a far-left elitist and is virulently anti-gun and his stance on this issue gets a lot of coverage in the media. This will cost him in the South. I thought we'd let the sleeping dog of gun-control lie, but as another DU'er put it, "we just keep pissing on the electric fence." Mark my words, H.R. 1022 will be a serious factor in the upcoming election.
