September 2008-- That's too late.
Even some of the repubs and generals have said in the past that drawdowns or pullouts could begin before that. I am one of those who say pull out now. Could it cause chaos? Like there's no chaos now? Like we didn't cause it in the first place? How many more innocents will die by then? And to me, all of those getting killed are innocents. The guilty ones are in the white house. How many more US dollars will be wasted? The longer we stay the worse we make it. Two wrongs don't make a right. When you KNOW you're doing something wrong, why wait until September of next year to stop? I think Pelosi was afraid the dems won't show unity on this because many felt this was too long to wait.

1. "afraid the dems won't show unity on this because many felt this was too long to wait"
I'm not sure what you're saying -- unity on the bill that just passed?

The timeline in this bill probably won't even withstand a veto. A bill for "right now" wouldn't stand a chance.

2. I should have said "wouldn't" in the past tense.
It was mentioned on some news show earlier that many dems would not support the bill because they wanted the troops home sooner. After reading Will Pitts post, I see other reasons why dems might not vote for this. I am glad it passed, because it does show unity, but it does not go far enough. People are dying.

3. That's only another 1,000 dead US soldiers. Plenty left.
:sarcasm:
