Why we should be proud of the Edwards.
Edited on Thu Mar-22-07 11:49 AM by Kerry2008
Here on DU we often evaluate the political stances, and accomplishments of candidates. Rarely do we sit back and examine their relationships with their families and their wives/husbands. Today I looked into the eyes of the Edwards via the television about a thousand miles away. And what I saw was pure emotion, and unselfishness. John Edwards is very committed to his wife, and kids. And it shows. And John is right, Elizabeth is incredibly unselfish worrying solely about her family and our country.

Edwards has been out of the eye of the MSM, and it's unfortunate this had to be the way to get him back on television. But I hope the Edwards can turn this cancer return into something really positive, and meaningful. I thoroughly enjoy Senator Edwards, and can't wait to see him and Elizabeth go on from here standing up for what they believe!!

God speed Edwards family!! I'm proud of both of you!!

1. .
That is something that I saw as well. And not only about Edwards. The same could be said for Kerry, Gore or Clark. All of them found great partners. From what I see, they really seem to have happy marriages. True love I guess.

2. Absolutely.
The strength in marriages often shows the character of the candidate. Senator Kerry and VP Gore both also have keepers, and great women at their side. I'll never forget Teresa Heinz Kerry insisting John go to the doctor, and then they identified his prostate cancer. All three men have extraordinary marriages, and should be proud.

4. Posted At GD! Been One Of Their BIGGEST Supporters For A Very Long Time
now, and my heart goes out to them and their family. I am so very worried for her because if not for her I'm not sure I would be such a big supporter. She impressed me immensely throughout the last campaign and I have the utmost respect for her.

What a WONDERFUL First Lady she would be, I'm just so sorry that so many people are not able to see that certain "genuine" quality that comes through. Say what you will about John Edwards, and I've seen hundreds and hundreds of threads here attacking him, I remain in his corner.

What you see right now with them speaking directly and honestly gives me a certain HOPE that I really have lost so much of since 2000!

There are few other words to say other than for me they do seem to have a certain "warmth" that I don't see from many other candidates. I do like Obama a lot, but my preference would be that he be a VP first. I am sorry, and I'm not attacking her either... but I just can't feel that from Hillary. I suppose if that's the only choice we have I will be FORCED to vote for her, but I don't feel very much compulsion to campaign for Hillary in any way.

I LOVED Bill as a President, but Hillary has been all over the map, courting even many conservatives for what I can only assume is to appear to be more moderate. I think they call it "playing the game" and I'm sure EVEN Edwards is guilty, but both John & Elizabeth seem like they have their "heart" in this FOR AMERICA!

And no, I WILL NOT reply to those of you who want to argue with how I feel. I made a decision of sorts simply to let others do the carping because I find it far too offensive.... and that includes ALL of our candidates! I only mentioned Hillary because she is probably last on my list of our current candidates, but I'm not a back stabber even when it comes to her. She's just not my cup of tea.

I like Obama, Richardson, love Dodd and Biden... think Kucinich is my kind of Liberal and speaks his mind, but still I'm on the Edwards Band-Wagon and have been longer than most people.

I'm going to write Elizabeth at their web-site to wish her well, but I wonder if this isn't worse than they feel. I know many people who have their cancer return who just don't make it. then on the other hand, my mother-in-law had surgery to remove cancer from her intestines when she was 88 and it HAS NOT returned. She will soon be 95, but has SEVERE Alzheimer's and has lived with us for 8 years.

Go, Johnny, Go!!!! And my heart is heavy for you and yours. It would be so awful for their family to lose Elizabeth! What a fantastic woman!!
