1. God no. Has the backing of the religious right, can easily play the moderate
is from the midwest (appeal), and, most of all, hes a douchebag.

3. Hmmm...
On one hand, he's enough of a fundie lunatic that any 527 worth its salt could rip him to shreds, but sweet Jesus help us if he actually gets elected...

4. My first choice is for the GOP to dissolve as a political entity and
concede the 2008 election.

If I don't get my way on those terms, I'd like to see them split at the seams with two different faction candidates turning their own voters against each other.

Then we stay unified and start picking up Senate seats and statehouses. Not to mention the presidency.

6. It could happen. There is no one uniting the fundamentalist vote, which remains up for grabs. Romney
and Guiliani will split the ex-pro-choice/ex-pro-gay-rights Yankee flip flopper vote. McCain and Hagel will split the not-really-a-maverick vote. Ron Paul will siphon of the Libertarian/Repub votes. Hunter will capture the protectionist Repub vote.

What's left? Brownback and Huckabee splitting the fundamentalists. If one of those guys could beat out the other to unite and consolidate the fundamentalist vote, who knows how far they could go? Plus, some of the most powerful forces in Repub party wouldn't mind losing this election so the could run Jeb in '12.

7. We need McCain to run as an independent
Maybe a McCain/Hagel independent ticket. That would take a good number of votes away from the Reps.

8. I am afraid of any of them
Democrats always snatch defeat from the jaws of victory..so don't write any of them off. We already have had the nut now in office, his dad, and Raegan...do you really think it can't happen again?? Especially with the Democrats pathetic attempts to end the war and take on other issues. The 08 race will be close, not because the GOP has a good candidate, but because Dems REFUSE to run on populist issues that really matter or create any type of democratic reform of elections and the way things work.

9. Sure would make life easy for us
Anyone who makes the center think twice will lose. That goes for D as well as for R, IMO.

Peace.

10. Noooooo!!!!
The trouble with political jokes is that they sometimes get elected; and the world doesn't need someone like him in charge!

12. He'd be easier to beat than Dame Rudy or Weathervane McCain
Though it should be noted that Brownback was only 5% behind Hillary in a recent poll (that same poll had Obama beating him by 15%). That probably has more to do with Hillary's weakness in the general election that Brownback's strength.
