Irony of all Ironies -- on the defense of Gingrich.

Gingrich (now Mr. Honesty for admitting an affair before somebody else told), is being defended with THIS:

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

That's right -- the man who made a career of serially sinning and then casting stones, most notably at President Clinton... is now defended with the "don't throw stones" quote... ARGH!!!

I also like the "But I wasn't under oath" excuse.

You know, imagine if we could charge Chimpy with public obscenity for picking his nose in public, and while he's under oath ask about his drinking habits. The questions about his drinking habits would be deemed immaterial to the case of nose-picking, and then the whole thing would be tossed out of court because nose-picking doesn't rise to the definition of public obscenity anyway.

THAT would be exactly what they did to Clinton via Paula Jones' sexual harrassment lawsuit.

THEN, we pick apart the immaterial testimony about his drinking habits, and convene a grand jury to see whether he lied under oath about any part of it.

THAT is what they did to Clinton.

2. I'm reminded of an old shipmate of mine about 20 years ago

A drunken, cussing, farting, fornicating Sailor who didn't give a whit about church or rightiousness. He was a good teammate but an incredibly pathetic human being and a typical conman, sneaky little, thieving, bastard of a Sailor (not necessarily a bad thing.) He's on wife number four now and has found religion. He has been saved and he is going to heaven and I am now worthless scum who is going straight to hell. I now refer to him as former shipmate.

9. Everyone in the military, judiciary, law enforcement

should realize that the Constitution is what they are supposed to serve. The Founding Fathers were undoubtedly influenced by the Bible and natural law but they didn't write either into the Constitution. I remember when Republicans really believed in the strict constructionist approach to the Constitution and accused Democratic judges of rewriting the laws to fit their interpretation of the Constitution. Now the tables are turned. Most of today's Democrats are moderate Republicans at best and I don't know what to call today's GOP. (Hi, Agent Mike!)

10. I find it ironic

that in a country which has religious freedom written into its statutes and is respected 99.9+% of the time, that large, organized religious groups whine about religious persecution and they whine in a tax exempt status. They are the first to ensure their constitutional rights are protected while attempting to remove others liberties through codification. The older I get the sourer I have become on organized religion. Hell, I contemplated the priesthood when I was ten years old.

This is the land of the free, not the land of james dobson.

Truly disturbing!!! This woman, whose life's work seems to be brainwashing children, claimed that democracy is doomed to destroy itself because it gives everyone equal freedom.

4. That's not really fair, because with Clinton it wasn't about the affair

which was just the underlying issue, it was about perjury and obstruction of justice, which wasn't like Libby, because there the perjury and obstruction didn't matter because the underlying issue wasn't as bad as Clinton's underlying issue, which wasn't as bad as Gingrich having an affair because he didn't commit perjury or obstruction of justice like Clinton, but not like Libby, who did commit perjury and obstruction but it wasn't important because....
