Please Contact John Conyers office about Cheney
Edited on Wed Mar-07-07 12:37 PM by Botany
Lying our country into a war, outing a CIA agent who was keeping us safe
from real WMDs, rolling up a secret "front Company" that had cost millions to
create (Brewster Jennings), and putting thousands into an unneeded war
all pass the threshold of what are high crimes and misdemeanors.

Fitz did a great job for America and now it is time to take this investigation
to the next legal and logical step.

2. Conyers does not support impeachment (recent quote):

How I wish it were not so. Don't shoot the messenger.

I don't know what good individual state's resolutions to impeach will do if Conyers does not wish to pursue.

Conyers on impeachment vs. other priorities: “Let’s get a grip on this, folks. We’ve got a timeline. This is February 22nd. The elections are in November of next year. It’s nice to say let’s get rid of him , we want to get rid of him sooner than he’s going out. But you can’t do it. We have a plurality of one . It takes two-thirds to convict….Let’s take over the government. I’d rather put in a president. And let me tell you, I like Obama, I like John Edwards from North Carolina, and I also like our colleague, Dennis Kucinich.”.

4. This is not about impeachment (for now)
Edited on Wed Mar-07-07 12:44 PM by Botany
This is about an investigation which falls under the jurisdiction of
the House Judiciary Committee.

3 things can occur because of this investigation

1) New information on which Fitz can act

2) Understanding about why are really in Iraq

3) Cheney's removal from office

8. Kick
Email to the House Judiciary Committee

Chairman Conyers:

Now that the Libby verdict is in, I hope that you and the Committee will pursue the question of Mr. Cheney's role in the matter of the outing of an undercover CIA operative. Mr. Fitzgerald hinted today that he will provide information to the Committee if you request it.

Also, Mr. Bush's role in the affair needs to be examined. What we know is that he secretly declassified secret documents. Apparently, only he, Cheney and Libby knew that parts of the NIE had been declassified. This is, at least I would think, highly unusual protocol. Moreover, it was used for the purpose of giving legal cover to the OVP so that the selected information could be used in a political smear campaign.

That sounds like an impeachable abuse of power to me.

Thank you for your time.

10. Oh YEAH!!!
I'm posting this also from the "enlightened self-interest" department.

Here's my newest column:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3149945

If I may humbly submit - it's not just that I'd like you to visit it and maybe give it a kick or a rec - at the bottom of the link, at the end of the column, is a collection of TOLL FREE Capitol Hill switchboard numbers that you can call, from anywhere, and weigh in, with anyone in the House or the Senate. They'll transfer you wherever you say. I'm thinking I may end more of my columns with that phone list. It costs nothing but maybe a minute or two of your time, but if you do it, you do have to keep in mind that you'll be calling on EASTERN TIME, which may make a difference later in the day (it also means you can start earlier in the morning, while you're still in your jammies waiting for your coffeemaker to finish before you have to wake the kids up or whatever.

Write, and/or call. THEY NEED to hear from us now, because NOW MORE THAN EVER, they need the calcium supplement for their already-weakened backbones. We did NOT work our fannies off and/or give of our time, energy, or money til it hurt - for them to start giving up and, in effect, send bush the message "thank you, sir, may I have another?"
