I have been containing myself all day (re: Holy Joe as 'Dem' spokesman on radio)
I heard it this morning, live. I read about it on DU in advance of the event. I read here the observations about holy cluelessness regarding Walter Reed.

And all day I have been containing myself.

But this question simply won't go away ....... who said this was okay?

How did Holy come to be the 'Democratic' spokesperson for today's radio address? Even as it was reported in the succeeding hours that he was the one who gave the address, followed by clips from it, the news readers are reporting that Joe is an Independent.

If even the newsreaders know and understand and acknowledge this, who in the Democratic Party apparatus saw fit to allow this to happen?

I'm trying to stay calm about this. I've not cussed out a soul about this .... so far.

Does anyone know the full story? If so, could you educate this old clown?

3. another little piece for you madfloridian....
someone asked Rep. Murphy this question on live chat today @ FDL and he said he didn't know who picks them. OUCH. I'll even give you another.. he didn't know about Halliburton's hand in Walter Reed.

I'm on board with you, not liking what I'm hearing from him.

Mr. Hubs2Sparkly:

I'm glad you stayed (somewhat) calm about this today.. btw it's also good to get it out like you just did, or it would just build up.

5. Mr Murphy is not on my favorite list right now.
I was not impressed by him on Countdown.

8. I just read all the comments in his interview at FDL . Vastly differs from Countdown.

It does not sound anything at all like the MSNBC interview on Countdown. How can one man sound so different?

At FDL he sounds like he is working to get the troops home, but that is not how he sounded on Countdown.

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/1145

"MURPHY: Well, the president has ordered them to go, and, you know, the reality of it is, I think all of us here at home need to pray for them. We’re looking at what we can do in Congress right now. We obviously have a supplemental coming up, and we look forward to -- You know, we were having these hearings. The reality of it is, is, you know, they didn’t even talk about it for the past six years. You know, they had a Congress that didn’t like to ask the tough questions.

And, you know, I, you know, General Pace—I served under him, obviously, you know, Keith, that I served in the military, just got off of active duty a few years ago. And, you know, I talked to him about the training of the Iraqis. I talked to him about the readiness issue.

And Congress, you know, has finally asked him, you know, Do you need more troops? Do you need more troops? Under Rumsfeld, they never needed more troops. And now they’re saying, We need 92,000 more. So we’re looking at how we could do that for them."

More...it sounds like more troops are going. I don't see how he can one thing at MSNBC and other at FDL. Or I am just very dense.

Keith, you mentioned—you know, I just was in Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan. But I met with General McNeil (ph). He is the commander, the NATO commander, an American general that I served under when I was at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. And I asked him, I said, Sir, what do you need? Do you need more troops? And he looked at me in the eye and he said, Murph, I need four more brigades, I need two more—I’m sorry, I need four more battalions, two battalions, about 1,500 troops of Brits, 1,500 troops of Americans.

The Brits just came through, and now he’s asking our military for more troops. And we need to give it to him, because the Taliban, who are going to resurge and have this spring offensive, are coming, and we need to make sure that we support our military and put our eye back on the ball in Afghanistan, Keith.

Here's the kicker for me...talking about winning in the ME. We can't win there after what we have done in the way of killing, torturing.

"MURPHY: ... is the best, Keith. But I think the reality of it is, is that we need to make sure that we win in the Middle East. "

Full transcript...compare with the interview at FDL.

9. The question I asked him at FDL was to define "win"...
The question I asked him at FDL was to define "win"...

this was his response..

49 Patrick Murphy says:

March 3rd, 2007 at 12:00 pm

HaloBeam - To win in my Middle East, we have to capture and kill Osama Bin Laden (who killed my best friend’s girlfriend, Michelle Hoffman, who perished in the World Trade Center with her father) and ensure there are not any more safe havens in Afghanistan for Al Queda to grow. In Iraq, our troops have accomplished what they were asked to do: depose Saddam Hussein and get rid of the weapons of mass destruction (that was pretty easy, there weren’t any, contrary to what Rick Santorum tried to say).

btw... he absolutely sounds like two diff. people... after I was on live chat, I read your post/journal.. and he talked as if he was someone else. thats REALLY weird.

6. Probably no one will know the whole story, but if you
want to relax a little and live to be here for the next election...you should read the post I made on another thread complaining about Lieberman.

Maybe we let him give the address
"Because if we don't let him do something important,
He'll take all his marbles and go to where be feels at home and become a Republican. Then we'll all be CRYING that we lost the committee chairmanships and control of the senate and the ability to bring up charges on bush*/Cheney et al. Think about it people! Which is worse...to have him give a radio response for us or lose the Senate? Doesn't take much thinking for me! I cringe every time I hear people and their hate Lieberman speeches. Can't we just politely take it for two more years and get rid of him the old fashioned way...like voting him out rather than driving him out? There is nothing the Rethugs would like better than revenge for Jim Jeffords defection! Let's not give it to them!

So please calm down Stinkey...we want you around here more than we want Lieberman out of our hair. Be patient!

12. He probably went to the person who makes the selection and
whined that unless he was given that platform he was going to more seriously consider becoming a repuke. Lieberman clearly loves the power he's now enjoying. I hope next November the make-up of the Senate is such that the Dems can tell Lieberman to kiss off.

13. In the 1940s Joe Lieberman would have been one of those Jewish policemen that helped the Nazis
herd the Jewish people into cattle cars.

He is a collaborator to war crimes, and it was a grievious error to have him as the Democratic spokesperson on anything.
