Obama's closing the gap against Hillary. Would a Gore campaign mess it up?
Edited on Wed Feb-28-07 01:52 PM by Ninja Jordan
I'm interested in getting Obamaniacs' view on a potential Gore run. Clearly, Obama has been gaining serious traction lately (see Geffengate and the Austin rally). A recent poll shows Obama cutting Hillary's lead in half. With the real prospect of Obama emerging as a realistic alternative to Hillary, is an Al Gore candidacy needed? If so, would Gore split Obama's support in half, and actually benefit Hillary? A Hillary-Gore-Obama triangle is hard to judge.

3. I actually think Gore will wait to see if Obama flares out

if it looks as if Obama has "caught on" with the democratic electorate, and becomes a true opponent to Hillary, then Gore will stay out. If Hillary is still clearly leading in June-July, then Gore'll get in. My 2 cents.

5. Most of Obama's supporters would swing to Gore if they had to choose
between Gore and Hillary...at least I would. If Gore comes in it could lead to a good old-fashioned brokered convention where no one has enough delegates going into the convention and alliances form left, right and center. Wouldn't that drive the DLC'ers crazy and wouldn't that be fun?

6. I would definitely support Gore,
... will support Obama if Gore doesn't run, and a Gore/Obama ticket would be sublime.

7. Well, I don't know if Gore will run or not
But Obama is my candidate. Gore would be my second choice if he chooses to run.

10. I don't know that Gore would run if Obama was ahead
I do think he would run if Hillary was ahead. Fall is soon enough for Gore to announce if he is going to announce.
