Vice Presidential possibilities I wish to 'float'...
...and get reactions. I was listening to a panel discussion among well credentialed academics in the fields of political science, polling and media. I'm really out of my league when I hear people like this. I'm just a guy who votes as often as they let me. DK's politics are the closest to mine of all the current candidates. I've tended toward JK since last summer on the 'electability' issue. Or, at least, as I've perceived it. I never thought HD or WC were gonna go anywhere. I was stunned when JK's fortunes were at such a low ebb a few months back...
OK, there's my pre-dispositions...
Now, what I want to float is the idea that a John Kerry/Max Clelland ticket or a John Kerry/Sam Nunn ticket might be a winner. A winner in the 'South'. A winner in the 'Mid-West'(the so-called 'Heartland'). A winner in the 'urban liberal' population centers. In other words, a stone-cold, out-front, complete and total winner. A ticket that could get Boy George and his PNAC Gallery of lunatics outta there.
I want to hear what people think. BTW, I'm really unimpressed by S&B/Illuminati/CT stuff. In fact, I'm rather appalled that such far right stuff has seemingly invaded the left. So...tell me all about it.
Kerry/Clelland? Kerry/Nunn? What ya think?

1. Not Cleland
I like him a lot but he's been on stage with Kerry the whole time -- it would be way too much like Bush "picking" Cheney. He needs someone outside his campaign circle.

I'd love to see Edwards get the nod.

4. Edwards...
..or it'll break my heart, and alot of others who have been out there supporting him.

They have each said that as Senators, they are professional friends.

Collectively, through EVERY primary/caucus, they have pulled 50-75% of the vote (e.g., Missouri 80% together, VA & TN, 75% plus)

I, and many others, WANT this! A new name, someone Kerry "chooses" (e.g., Cleland, Rockefeller, Graham), would dissappoint many. Edwards will be his more conservative, eloquent, southern balance-point. It will be GREAT for the Campaign if Edwards can continue to campaign from July-November as the #2.

<< If he doesn't pull out the nomination himself :-) >>

5. He'll never consider Clark. Clark is a straight shooter..
Clark cannot be handled and managed. Clark has said some "controversial" things about the bushistas. Kerry is playing it safe.

6. Wow
All of sudden ...like in the last hour...I have seen three simultaneasou posts on different links about Cleland.

Cleland does two things. First he might put GA in play which would be great but secondly. Two bonafided vietnam heros on the ticket would cut seriously into Bush's core support among 40-60 year old males.

I still like Richardson but Max would be a teriffc choice.

8. Would Clelaland force * hand on Cheney?
As VP. See the thing about CHeney is that he does not really buy Bush all that much electorally. The GOP might consider that if Bush/Cheney winn another sqeaker... there really is no easy way for a Standard Bearer to emergre in 2008 becaues CHeney certainly is not going to run. Whereas swapping his VP choice for some one who could dleiver a key state is important and becomes the heir apparent win or lose.

A Kerry-CLeland ticket might force a reassesment of the electoral math.
