Don't Obama and Hillary work for a living? Don't they work for us?
So why in the hell aren't they busy doing some work?

The headline wars between these two campaigns is starting to get on my nerves already....and it will become a laughable caricature not unlike the Anna Nicole Smith saga....and certainly it will not wear well over the next 12 months. If they were smart, they would figure this shit out.

If the campaigns don't understand that the primary shouldn't be about the personalities of these two...then Hillary and Obama they need to fire some of those high price fallutin' consultants.

They both need to chill....cause it is gonna turn off the voting populace totally!

1. FWIW, Congress is on recess this week
But I am also sick of the campaign attacks, especially this early in the game.

3. They should be writing legislation for when they get back to congress.....
cause yeah.....Obama's fresh face is gonna start looking like old news pretty quickly. In fact, I'm sure that's what the media would like.....and his campaign is giving them what they want.

revelations. He is working while campaigning.

Perhaps you should ask Hillary that question? Is she waiting for a focus group?

Edited on Wed Feb-21-07 05:19 PM by FrenchieCat
Whatever Obama has to say is being obscured by the teenage silliness that the press is promoting.

He should have responded to Hillary with a quote that included his work on Walter Reed and the deplorable conditions there. He has the microphone.....and so he should use it to good use....and that ain't always promoting one's self...doncha think?

This goes for the both of them.

I don't mind us having a debate in reference to the candidates....I just resent the candidates allowing the airwaves to be filled with nonsense about each other. It's too ridiculously early to be rolling in the mud.

4. Team Hillary drew first blood
and they are now realizing that they are not the only ones using the rapid response tactic that Carville used for Big Dog in 1992.

Team Hillary's early volley at Obama and Edwards is indicative that they are annoyed that we haven't accepted her coronation as a fait accompli.

8. This handwringing is very amusing...
This sort of political jousting has been going on since the beginning of the Republic....

Just sit back and enjoy the show...

If you are annoyed, ignore it....

14. Well things change...
The internet and information revolution has sped everything up...

In the 18th and early 19th century, candidates didn't even campaign themselves...

TV changed the way campaigns were run in the 60's and now the internet....

Just the way it is...

Being a political junkie I actually don't mind....

17. Well right now...
How they react to pressure...and how they respond to attacks.

Given what the Republicans have in store for the nominee, this is not trivial...

Even though I am a strong Hillary supporter, I was pleased by Obama's reaction to the response to the Geffen attack. More important than getting Hillary nominated(which I am committed to), is making sure we get a Democrat in the White House. The nominee is going to have to respond quickly and forcefully to attack...so if this is an example of how Obama will conduct himself in the general, it relieves some of the anxiety I might normally have over someone with such relatively limited national campaign experience being the nominee...

It is just exhausting me....

What's next...Obama and Hillary facing off each other in the Inquirer and Star?

When I couple this stuff with the Anna Nicole Smith's trial and the pressing question as to who gets to bury her, it is getting tiresome and is a complete turn off. Starting to feel like a circus.

But maybe that's just me. :hi:

23. Well I guess...
It just depends on what interests people...

I agree with you...if I never hear the name Anna Nicole Smith again I will be very grateful...

But obviously there is interest among the masses...

I think the difference is, even though the political back and forth can get a bit childish...underlying it I think, with all of the Democratic candidates, is a seriousness of purpose. I think they probably feel if this is what they have to do to win, then it is too important not to. So there is a bit different vibe about it I think..at least for me...

19. If people weren't dying in a mistaken war, I would agree.
But they are, and these campaigns don't seem to respect that there is a war going on and that is what is most important. I'd also add that ending that war is more important than who voted for the IWR, but it's all silliness and little seriousness. That sets a tone that you can't take US seriously, and I think that's what I resent.

10. You expected different from the Clintons?
After the McAuliffe pre-emptive attack on Kerry, and Hillary's joining in the botched joke, and Carville's multiple attacks on Dean??

It's what the Clintons do. If Obama doesn't respond, he'll just be another casualty in the Clinton machine.

He asked me this same question two days ago, ie why they were out campaigning so early instead of working
These are the two comments from the last week.

12. That is my fear.....the mass voters hear only the background noise....
without following any of the details.

All they hear about are two Democrats going after each other. In the end, neither will make the impression of being a leader.....rather simply a rabbid dog who has nothing to do but to foam at the mouth.

My point is they need to do what Richardson said in Nevada today....stop attacking each other, and attack the policies of the current administration and the Republican party in general.

They have the microphone handed to them, and this is the best that they can do? Not very effective, IMO.

24. Frenchie - its already gone nuukular down here
and the Hollywood people are pissed off. Gossip from the lots are saying who did she think she was to go after Obama because of Geffen. And Geffen is in full battle mode and he is going to a party every single night until the Oscars on Sunday. The Clinton people erred badly by going after Hollywood when they are all in one place down here. It acts as a proxy because her refusal to say she made a mistake on the war is costing her too with people who are not fans of Geffen.

CNN Bill Schnieder is out here and he is rubbing his hands together in glee. He called Obama golden out here. (He is.) Meanwhile the local news shows Obama's really well done rally with the hundreds of signs that were ready to go so the front just showed a sea of Obama people with signs along with several thousand behind that in the middle of one of the largest African American areas where the white folks also showed up in droves. Meanwhile, J Lo, Clooney, Aniston, Will Smith showered Obama with money which is in the Clinton realm of fundraising. Word is that it cleared 7 figures for Obama. Hillary is here and she doesn't have the same glitz factor and people are talking about it which means the entertainment media is talking about it. Hillary fired first at the wrong target and the boomerang is hitting her cash cow donors. This week was just the wrong week with the world press and papparazi everywhere for the Oscars. Hollywood is angry that Hillary made demands to just give to her and they are ready to bite back. My jaw has dropped chatting with several friends - several from Fox Studios played hooky to go see Obama...

Meanwhile Geffen gets to chat about this everwhere as Dreamgirls & A Inconvenient Truth are Paramount properties. And no, it won't stop since its really all about the money.
