Poll question: Who was Senator Hillary Clinton referring to when she made this statement
Edited on Wed Feb-21-07 12:01 AM by zulchzulu

"Some people may be running who may tell you that we don't face a real threat from terrorism," she said. "I am not one of those."
- Senator Hillary Clinton (February 18, 2007/Columbia, S.C.)

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2007/02/clinton_comes_to_south_carolin.html

Note: Those that support Senator Hillary Clinton hopefully know which candidate she is referring to and can supply everyone with that knowledge. Perhaps there is information on her site that can be referred to. Additionally, this quote is from the candidate therefore people should heed her warnings.

We should thank her for pointing out someone weak on terror in our midst. After all, who wants a candidate who doesn't see terrorism as a real threat.

1. Other - Straw Man.
Perhaps we need to include a ghost in the Democratic Primary named the "Straw Man" - like they had in the Family Circus cartoon - "not me", "nobody", etc. when the parents would ask who did something and the kids would say "not me" or "nobody".

11. Here's what I find odd - Pete Daou is working for Hillary now and he HATES this tactic
Edited on Wed Feb-21-07 07:45 PM by blm
and has written about it on his old blog - Mydd picked up on the theme and has written on it, too. It's called REIFYING, accepting the RW talking points when you are referring to other Democrats.

It's DISGUSTING and I hope Pete steps up and tells the campaign to KNOCK IT OFF or else he walks.

5. Out-neoconning the neocons
And we're still not allowed to question her political philosophy. Absolutely amazing. I don't know who she directed that statement at, don't care, I don't want anymore of it.

6. She's the consummate schemining, manipulating, deceiving politician!
Edited on Wed Feb-21-07 02:14 AM by Clarkie1
No Democratic candidate has said that! How dare she imply such a thing to be true!

And she expects people to believe what she says about her cowardly, politically calculated IWR vote? How dumb does she think the American people are?!

Hold her accountable, I say! :-)

7. I think some here think she should just get a free pass for her comment...
After all, she's Senator Clinton. How dare ANYONE "pick on her". Why should she be accountable? Granted, if someone like John Kerry had said that, of course, I think there might be a different conversation here... What if Al Gore said that? Or Edwards?

I'll be satisfied when she or that skanky turncoat motherf&*ker James Carville tells us who she was referring to...

(insert sound of crickets...)

9. I think she is accepting the Republican strawman
of Democrats are weak on defense - and that she is uniquely different. This actually started soon sfter Nov 2004 when Bill started speaking about how he and Hillary were strong on defense - unlike Senator Kerry.

Now, she is vaguely contrasting herself as strong while validating the RW smear that Democrats are weak.

16. I don't think there is anything vague about it. She knows it is a RW lie and is USING it
instead of FIGHTING it.

I hope Pete Daou stands up to her and the rest of the campaign and DISAVOWS this reifying RW talking points tactic they are using.

10. What an idiotic comment
She should provide a quote from another candidate saying "we don't face a real threat from terrorism."
Where's the quote? Who said that?

Vinnie is running on the Maple Syrup Soldiers of the Bongwater ticket. That's my guess anyway.

20. Who would that be?
And is you are going to refer to a lie (even if it was sarcasm, was it?) maybe you want to spell the word madrasa correctly. Madras, is a uniquely Indian plaid clothing material.

17. Terrorism is not the main threat!
Multi-national corps are the threat we are forgetting to look at. They spawn billionaire candidates that do their bidding, fill us with fear so they can do what they do best-make money!
