Dodd Finishes Fourth in Home State Poll (behind Clinton, Obama, Gore)
A new poll released Monday shows Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., as “a distant fourth” in a Democratic primary match-up in his home state.

The Quinnipiac University poll shows Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., leading Democrats with 33 percent. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., is in second with 21 percent, leaving Dodd with 8 percent, trailing former Vice President Al Gore who came in third with 9 percent.

The poor showing for Dodd would not seem to bode well for his White House aspirations. “If Sen. Christopher Dodd can't even come close to winning a Democratic primary in his home state, that's obviously a bad sign for his presidential campaign,” said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz.

2. Sen. Dodd Declares 2008 Presidential Candidacy (Jan 11)
Five-term Democratic Sen. Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut jumped into the 2008 presidential contest Thursday, undeterred by the competition from better-known Senate colleagues.

In an interview on the “Imus In the Morning” radio show, Dodd said he was filing candidacy papers with the Federal Election Commission. “I want to skip this exploratory phase a lot of people go through and become a full-fledged candidate for the presidency,” he said.

Dodd is the fifth Democrat to officially declare his candidacy, following announcements by former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, the 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee; retiring Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack; Ohio Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich; and former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel.

Has anyone heard much about Mike Gravel?

3. Thanks
No, I haven't heard about Gavel either. Well, I have nothing against Dodd, but he doesn't seem to be getting off to a great start, does he? But at least he didn't come out swinging against all the other Dem candidates like Biden did a few weeks ago!

4. Figures - he's my main pick
I have a terrible track record as to primaries - Tsongas, Bradley, Clark.

If this keeps up, guess it's back to Edwards or Richardson for me which does not bode well for either of them. Am hoping Prince Al will ride in and rescue me and everyone else for victory in '08.

6. He's in trouble
Honestly any candidate who is having trouble in his own home state probably won't survive the primary and if they do will be in serious trouble in the general.
