As a Hillary Clinton supporter, the one person I think would give her a serious run...
is Al Gore. This man would be an instant and formidable force in the race.

I would be happy to support him if he decides to run and secures the nomination.

1. he's my first choice actually
along with a General who's name I won't mention

But I'd have no problem (well maybe a couple small ones) supporting Mrs. Clinton as the nominee

4. Gore runs, he wins.
He has this party locked behind him. I've never heard any Democratic say anything bad about Al Gore since about 2002ish. He's seen as Dean is, the heart and soul of the party. The new Al Gore is exactly the kind of guy we need in the White House. Someone whose qualified and experienced, and is pissed off because he tasted the White House once and lost it to a moron who has been a failure.

Never lost, deserves a second look!!

Obama will also give her a serious run, IMHO.

5. Correct. Gore would be Hillary's strongest challenger in the primaries.

IMO, the strongest way for Gore to come out and run would be for he and Obama have a powwow before he announces. They decide to run as that ticket - Gore/Obama - and he announces as such. That puts to rest any crap about who would he chose for VP (ending any Lieberman haunting).

It would also (perhaps) help appeal to the African American vote and peel some more of that vote away from Hillary.

People who may think the US isn't ready to elect a black man President (that's not me) probably do not have that same feeling re VP (also gives Obama great experience to run for the top later).

It gives a Gore ticket a feeling of progress re first African-American VP.

AND

If Hillary gets the nomination it would be foolish (therefore she wont do it) to try and break two barriers at the same time. She wont (can't) put Obama or Richardson on the ticket. It'll be a white guy - Bayh or Warner or Webb so if Obama wants to be on the ticket and it looks like he wont be able to win it on his own, I think it would be smart for him to do it this way.

Gore could also tell Richardson that he would make him Secretary of State.

The field is really going to need to be narrowed down so the Not-Hillary vote isn't dispersed among many different candidates - Gore, Obama, Edwards, Richardson, etc.

OK - obviously that is all just an opinion, a theory which I'm sure many will disagree with (of course). Unlikely? Definitely. Potentially very effective? I think so.

edit to add - If Hillary wins the nomination she definitely has my vote in the General.

7. What interests me the most....
....is the new charge that while Gore isn't saying he'll run, he's said to KO (didn't I read that right...it was KO, correct?) that if people pushed for him to run, he might just do it!!

The thing about Gore. He could get in during August, and still probably at least have a big chance of winning the nomination.

13. Yes, there are.
Maybe he's waiting out to see how the race forms up. See if Obama starts to tank, and Hillary has no real competition. Maybe he likes the speculation he's getting, and loves the attention he's building while leaving the door somewhat open.

10. Remains to be seen.
I like Senator Edwards, but he needs to try and play catch up with Obama and Clinton. But he has plenty of time, and plenty of support to do so.

12. Don't think he will run
Unless I'm reading things wrong I don't think Gore sees the Presidency in his future. I think he is content to work on things that are near and dear to his heart like the environment and global warming. I could be wrong but while I think he would be a terrific President, I think he can be nearly as effective on the sidelines doing the quiet behind-the-scenes work to save our planet from certain destruction by the no-holds-barred globalists and capitalists.

17. He's my first choice
I think he is the only candidate that both sides of the Democratic party would support wholeheartedly.

My agreement with k_jerome on this thread is testament to that.
