Boehner, leaning on golf clubs, wants troops to fight some more,
I`d really like to shine a light on that spot in the road where patriotism and sacrifice intersect. After years of two-day work weeks and meaningless jingoistic outbursts, Boehner and the rest of the Bush Cultists show no stomach for forfeiting the good life in the name of national security.
The Bushies are telling us we`re in World War III, the "enemy" is coming to get us, and we`re going to be destroyed, yet there isn`t a one of them suited up for combat. Odd how that works. Plenty calling for more blood, but only a few willing to spill it. Apparently that`s why some soldiers have been sent to Iraq three or four times.

What kind of "representative" would send soldiers to war for a lie? Or without proper gear? Or without proper training? What kind of world citizen would ignore the dropping of White Phosphorus or the existence of secret torture planes? What responsible "leader" would cheerfully charge billions and billions of dollars to his grandchildren, without so much as a second look as to how the money was spent? Are their lives so busy that they didn`t have time to wonder where those National Guard soldiers were during Hurricane Katrina? Are they so used to their 4-star bubble that they don`t recognize hardship when they see it? This isn`t supporting the troops, it`s abusing them.

We must find the courage to insist that supporting the troops means more than nodding at bloodthirsty rhetoric. How empty that seems in the face of all these horrible injuries, broken minds and heartbreaking deaths. http://icasualties.org/oif/

I have completely lost patience with any and all politicians brainstorming with consultants over nuanced position papers. I don`t give a damn anymore how it plays in Hoboken or Grand Rapids or Salt Lake City. This is a matter of life and death. If our "representatives" had their loved one trapped in a no-win situation in Iraq, you can bet your bottom dollar we`d hear a lot less empty rhetoric and see a few more binding resolutions.
