Clark supporters have helped change the way politics are played

You have a lot to be so proud of! Isn't Clark's candidacy the first that began with a draft movement by ordinary citizens? I haven't ever heard of any other candidate entering an election race in that way. This is one way that you all have helped towards giving the power back to the people. So, while you digest the events from tonight and go through the inevitable grief process, don't forget the important role you have played and the loyalty and devotion you have held in your hearts for Wesley Clark. You've changed things and you deserve many Kudos for that. You can hold your heads high for all the incredible and difficult work you have done to make this country a better place.

You know, it could have just as easily been my guy instead of yours. Lord knows the media and Party leadership have been doing their full out best to get rid of both of our guys. Even though Dean and Clark supporters have had some rough spots, our story is quite similar, and our experiences in this battle aren't really all that different. Both of our camps have done an awful lot to put the power back in the hands of the people. My camp lives to fight another day, but unless things improve soon, we're bound to end up in the very same boat you are in tonight. Stand tall and proud, though, because it's people like you and I who bust our tail for what we believe in that defines what's great about this country!

I will probably be making a donation to Kucinich. I really can't see getting behind any of the other candidates. I don't even get a primary vote here in Colorado.

and no, I didn't realize Kucinich was drafted. The Clark draft was sizeable enough to be all over the news. I'm guessing Kucinich's wasn't reported on much, which would explain why I hadn't heard of it before. :shrug:

Along with a bit of advice...

You should not just fade away from being involved. It doesn't have to be politics, but get involved in your community. Put all your energy and hard work to good use somewhere. There are soup kitchens, homeless shelters, food banks, nursing homes, habitat for humanity...all kinds of places that really need hard working people like you. It will also give you something to feel good about at a time when you're likely feeling pretty hopeless. You have the power to make a difference, with or without your candidate in the race. You can do it locally. Hold your heads up high, keep your chin up, and focus your energy into doing something positive. If you are unsure of what type of volunteer work you could do, you could contact your local Dean office and talk to the organizer for Dean Corps in your area. This is a group of Dean supporters who organize to do things for the community. It's not about the primaries, politics or anything...it's just about helping the local community. You DON'T have to be a Dean supporter to get involved with the Dean Corps projects. In my area they collected donated backpacks and school supplies for poor kids and organized a blood drive, to name a couple of things. Although I would love for any of you to choose to support Dean, that's not something I'm going to ask. I just want you to know that there is room for you to do things in your community to make a difference through the Dean campaign, whether you want to support him or not...through Dean Corps.

KK, your words mean a great deal in times like this. While we may not have known it during the primary, our camps were indeed kindred spirits, both looking to bring the power back to those who rightfully deserve it. The Dean people gave the status quo a nice big boot in the ass, and we tried to keep it rolling on its merry way after that.

Even though the old boy network won this time around, I think we both met our goals - at least for now. While we both didn't get the giant steps we wanted, we at least moved forward, and it's been a hell of a long time since that happened.

Congrats to all of us - we done good.

For now, Dean supporters still have work ahead of us. We're trying our damndest to catch a break to get our campaign going again. We may be down, but we aren't out yet. We're going to carry on the fight we began and that you Clark supporters formed your own branch of. It's not over yet! Any of you are more than welcome to join our effort to keep Dean in the race if you're up to it. I do realize you're all in a delicate state of mind and very disappointed right now and I certainly don't want to push. I only want you to know that there is always a home for you along side us should you want a place to go that works the same way Clark's campaign did. You'll always be welcome with open arms. If you don't want that, it's okay too...just don't forget why you were fighting for change and never lose that hope, regardless of where it leads you from here.

You've made a huge difference...and don't ever forget that!
