Norah O'Donnelll and the fine art of the "Gotcha" type interview.
She does it all the time. She has become an artist in this field. Today when Howard Dean was on to talk about the new innovations at the party, where they were headed, more about the week-end meeting.....all she could do was try to bait him about the various candidates.

First she tried the will Hillary be the one gambit. Dean of course handled that by saying he was going to be the referee and wouldn't discuss individual candidates. Then she hit on the Biden remarks and and wouldn't let go. He said since they were handling things among themselves he would not step in.

Finally when he just started talking about things they were doing at the DNC, it was hard to concentrate as she was making funny noises in the background, like hurry up what you are saying is unimportant, don't waste my time.

Then after he got out a few sentences, it was time to end the interview because he did not fail for the "gotchas."

9. His interview with Blitzer this afternoon was so much nicer.
Blitzer is more courteous, gives him time to talk, and is not so much out for "gotcha".

2. It's important for her to make sure he doesn't talk about any democratic plan
so that she go on the Sunday Chris Mathews Show to say that the democrats still don't have a plan.

She is very clever that way.

3. Actually Dean should have said, "Why don't we talk about why Russert hates
Mathews? Thousands of people are interested in that right now, but no one on MSNBC seems to want to talk about it."

4. Or as Marcy Wheeler put it...Pumpkinhead hates Tweety.
I saw that video of her and Jerralyn Merritt at FDL. I posted the video in the video forum. I think that is hilarious.

6. Video...worse than I thought. She was awful.
He avoided the pitfalls, got a few words out...but she was overbearing.

14. She's married to a prominent chef
I'll take your word for his politics, although I've never read about that.

Norah has said her goal is to become the female Tim Russert, so that leads toward gotcha type questioning.

I think she's much more balanced than posters here continue to insist. Many times in the past few months I've seen her slam a GOP guest but when I check DU for threads praising Norah in that regard, they are remarkably absent.
