Why the Kerry surge is good for us, bad for Bush.
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 11:22 PM by Gringo
I haven't seen dem voters coalesce so naturally, so quickly and strongly as they have around John Kerry. Not to put down his record, but I really think the surge, as well as the record high turnouts in all primary states are a wonderful harbinger of party unity and enthusiasm for getting Bush OUT. He seems to have won handily in TN and VA tonight, showing he DOES have some strength in the south.

Kerry was not my first choice, but I've long admired him, and am willing to forgive his IWR vote for the sake of removing Bush from office.

If Clark were in the same position now, I'd be talking about forgiving his shameless cheerleading of the war on CNN last year.

For whatever reason, democratic voters have made their will clear. It's time to solidify that unity, rally around Kerry, and start working on giving him a DEMOCRATIC congress so we can reverse the horrible damage Bush & co. have done to this country!

3. Well Said, Mr. Gringo!
And it never hurts to have a candidate noticeably taller than the opponent....

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

4. The handshake at the end of the first debate will just be...
delicious icing on the cake (as Senator Kerry towers over that rumpled monkey)

5. He wasn't my first choice either.
And I must agree that it is heartening to see the Party rally to the cause. I respect John Kerry and will proudly vote for him in the GE. Thanks for the post.

6. Sorry, I disagree
Saying that Kerry wins in the South in Democratic primaries is wishful thinking. Bush will bury John Kerry in Virginia and Tennessee. If Kerry even sets foot in Virginia again before November, I'll be surprised.

After an uneasy relationship with Dean, the party RACED into the arms of the original frontrunner and the single most Establishment Democrat of the pack. I think it's a step backward, and you need only look at the record for Democratic luck electing sitting Senators to POTUS. (I believe that's exactly 1 in the last century - JFK.)

I like Kerry, I think he's an important voice in the Democratic party. But I have said ALL ALONG, this is exactly the wrong election to run a Northeastern liberal.

I wish Kerry well, and I'll do my part...but I have trouble imagining this party re-assembling itself, after 8 years of Congressional electoral disappointments, around John Kerry.

I can't tell you how fervently I hope I'm wrong.
