I think that he or she will, because Americans, at long last, are done with politicians who want to tell them what to think. We are ready to hold our representatives accountable, and the best way to do that is to make sure we are the ones footing the bills, just the way the early colonists wanted to pay their British governors' salaries.

If someone asked you, "Is it worth an extra five or ten bucks a year to safeguard American democracy?" would you say no? But I could be wrong. Maybe as soon as Bush is gone, the public will go back to caring more about their day to day lives than whether their representatives are being true to them. Maybe the moment is already passing.
