Hillary has 26 point lead over Obama among black voters
What's up with that?

http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/ny-ushill0122,0,6959744.story

Hillary's looking pretty inevitable right now. If African-American voters won't rally to support one of their own, it's over for Obama.

I don't where she got so magically popular so quick. There is no reason behind it. She's a hawk.

4. Consider the MOE of the poll.
Edited on Mon Jan-22-07 10:14 AM by Mass
It was polling 560 people, all races together, so, at a very maximum, it polled 100 black people. This is meaningless.

I wished that the media stopped being glued to the polls that early in the race, but I guess this is unavoidable and we just have to ignore this part of the rethoric.

BTW, if the ABC/WaPo means something, everybody should drop out except Hillary, because the poll gives her such an enormous edge.

That isn't necessarily correct
It is possible that they decided to poll the same number of each race and then do a weighted average. That is what they do when they polls from each state. They poll an equal number of Californians and Wyomingites and then weight accordingly. The advantage of that system is they can keep a low MOE across all the groups being compared without polling tons of unnecessary people.

8. We should be aware the Repugs would rather go up against Hillary. ..
That might be a factor in the polling.

11. Can we wait until closer to the end of the year before
declaring someone the inevitable winner?

Dean was the front-runner for quite some time in 2003 and Kerry ended up winning.

13. I agree... allow Hillary dust to settle and have equal msm coverage of candidates...
Hillary's; "in it to win it" the other candidates are only looking for time away from their offices?

14. This was a Hillary-sponsored poll...read the fine print
The article does not identify the pollster, such as Gallup, Zogby, etc...it only mentioned..... "the pollster, who cut his teeth on President Bill Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign".

Doesn't that say it all? The article said the source of the polls was the Clinton campaign.

Isn't that free advertising from the media who spread this propaganda for her?

15. What African-Americans are they polling?
My mother, brother, and I are not voting for Hillary.

People forget about how she ended her friendships with Lani Guinier and Marian Wright Edelman for political reasons.

17. since it was a made to order poll from the campaign....
....it is anyone's guess! Normally...I mean in a real poll...they publish demographic stuff about the respondents, and usually you can at least see who the outfit was that conducted the poll. I suspect this "poll" was conducted in the basement of the Hillary For Pres campaign office.

16. Because black voters are more familiar with Hillary and are just getting to know Obama?
These numbers should only surprise those who assume that black voters will pick a candidate they know little about just because he's black.

Give us some credit for being savvier than that.
