1. I supported Clark in 2004
And I'm leaning towards him again (after being in the Mark Warner camp, until he announced that he wouldn't run.) However, I'm also considering Edwards, Obama and Richardson (but barely with him.)

2. I've noticed
That a lot of DUers I remember from 2004 are supporting the same person.

12. Some candidates have personality-cults here
And unfortunately, some of them get too carried away in primary flame wars. While I wasn't here in 2004, I've heard that the primary threads got pretty ugly. I just hope 2008 isn't as bad.

13. Dean people...
That's the political question of the election, isn't it? We have been sought after... ;-)

We'll go our own ways, I suspect. Most favor the populist Gore, but we don't know that he will run. Barring Gore's running...I'm now thinking Richardson, because he shares a lot of the centrist, populist, and environmental beliefs of both Gore and Dean, and he has a foreign policy resume that is very impressive.

Other Deaniacs may disagree.

18. Gore would be like a tidal wave hitting the race.
It would rearrange the entire environment. I think Gore is the last major player not in the race. Some would say Kerry too.

21. Yes, but Gore took some time off.
He said he didn't want a rematch of that fiasco and I agreed with him, sadly.

28. Kerry would be a tidal wave alright n/t
He is the only potential Dem candidate that I really just don't care for, that vote would be a total hold your nose and mark the X.

Barring that, Richardson looks good or possibly Obama. Have to study it a bit more. I like Clark and Kucinich too.

Though he is leaning toward it. But until he throws his hat into the ring, I am mulling over the choices available.

11. Kerry 2004 Kerry 2008
Assuming he runs - if he doesn't I will likely support issues, some of which I would hope he would provide Senate leadersip on. As to 2008, assuming Gore also doesn't run - all have some negatives. I assume I would wait through the debates and hope Obama lives up to his promise. Otherwise, I will likely be unenthusiatic when I vote, regretting the lose of what could have been one of the greatest Presidencies in our history.

15. Yes, if my candidate run......I'm not sure yet if he will
Edited on Mon Jan-22-07 12:39 AM by FrenchieCat
and the reason I would support him again would be cause nothing has changed and in fact things have gotten worse......

Sure we hold congress now (for which he contributed mightily), but in terms of the presidential media created frontrunners, they all were either on the wrong side of what I consider to be the issue that has impacted our nation and the world the most in the past 4 years or I don't believe that they have the experience required to get it right.

Considering Trillions spent, hundreds of thousands of deaths, millions of enemies made, reduced credibility down to zero....

Plus our health care system stinks as much as it ever has, and he's the only one talking singlepayer health as doable.

Yes, I support him now more than ever.

26. I have always wanted Gore to run again.
When he did not, I went with General Clark. Now he, Gore and Obama are on my radar screen. They were against the war from the get-go and that is important to me. Also they are forward-looking men that inspire. That matters. We have a lot of work to do to put the world back on its axis. I am hopeful we make the right choice.

27. Kerry in 2004, probably Edwards this time around
It ws close choosing between them last time. I think Kerry had his opportunity. As for this year, I view a wide range of candidates as acceptable.

The primary threads here in 2004 were pretty brutal. Espcially since the vast majority of posters already had firm ideas of who they were going to back, and were very unlikely to be swayed by even the most intense barrages.

33. Didn't really pay much attention to primaries in 04
Back in 04 while I was strongly antiBush, I wasn't really reading up on news about the democratic party and their presidential candidate. I kind of supported Dean from what I saw on the news, but Dean was the only democrat running that I knew the name of. I liked how Dean prioritized a balanced budget to.
