Angry constituents want political 'robo calls' to end (CT)
By Susan Haigh, AP Political Writer | January 21, 2007

HARTFORD, Conn. -- ... "I had no less than 60 phone calls, sometimes five or six a day," said Sumislaski, 64. "It is just so annoying. And I can't tell you how many people I've spoken with about the annoyance. People were turned off from voting."

Many of those people have registered their frustration over automated political messages, often called "robo calls," with their state lawmakers. This session, legislators from across the state have filed similar bills, each calling for an end to the calls. Most would expand Connecticut's Do Not Call law to include automated political calls.

Legislative hearings could begin next month, said Rep. Christopher Caruso, D-Bridgeport, co-chairman of the legislature's Government Administration and Elections Committee ...

3. Republicans will just find another dirty trick
to pull. As soon as you shut down one common thing they do they turn around and find another one. That's why rove was so up on running the election he had such a sewer mind like all the republicans all he could think of was filthy dirty tricks.

5. I disagree.
If you are going to call me, I want a real person on the other end. Think of it as ensuring jobs, since campaigns will need actual people for the calls.

6. robo calls
are an incredibly cheap tool that even poor campaigns can afford. It would harm us greatly if we couldn't do them at all.
