Party politics played role in Katrina response
"Unbeknownst to me, certain people in the White House were thinking we had to federalize Louisiana because she's a white, female Democratic governor and we have a chance to rub her nose in it,"

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/01/20/katrina.brown.ap/index.html

While we know Brown wasn't even remotely qualified to run FEMA, at least now he is honest about the situation.

Could you imagine if the Katrina damage happened entirely in Texas? Dubya would've provided a blank check and had support personnel (military, medical, etc.) from all the 49 other states and pleaded for international assistance! But noooooooo, since the Governor of Louisiana is a Democrat then people in that state are own their own with only token assistance! :grr:  :grr:

1. I always thought that's what happened
It seemed pretty clear to me with the arguing about federalizing the state. It was a no-win for Blanco, if she had let them do that in order to get help faster, she still would have been crucified for it. Look what happened when they tried to get the guns off the streets to stop the violence.

I am really glad this is coming out clearly, although I still don't have a lot of use for "Brownie".

2. Nah, I wouldn't have believed that for a moment...
(rolls eyes)

Now in addition to all their other faults, the Republican administration are a bunch of sexist freaks.

4. I think the water trucks and other forms of help were turned away to make Blanco pay
for not agreeing to let them federalize LA.

They wanted to make her decision look stupid, and hang the results on her. That's part of why all forms of charity, water, food, and rescue were turned away.

6. Is this possible material for a Michael Moore documentary?
Unfortunately it would be difficult if he made a Katrina-related documentary without coming across as somewhat insensitive/making a profit on the misery/grief of others.

5. Even If It Weren't So Obvious
it would have been my best guess based upon what I know about this admin. Shame on them and anyone who supported them and still does.
