The new Dean ads aren't much of an improvement

Dean has often been criticized for his unimaginative campaign ads here on DU.

In my opinion, the latest batch on Dean For America isn't much of an improvement. In fact, I like the ones where Dean talks directly to the camera better.

Pay attention to the third one, where a "Massachussetts resident" decked out in Boston Red Sox apparel tries to convince the viewer he is better than John Kerry, using no arguments whatsoever.

If Dean wants to show he is better than Kerry, he better give some reasons in his ads.

1. These are not the new ads. These are produced by the grassroots and have

been around for a few months (but I don't think they were ever used). The campaign is putting a new professionally-produced ad on the air today in Wisconsin. These grassroots ads will air as a complement to the official campaign ad.

2. He does have a better ad...

that he is in. They are going to be playing that one, along with those 2 of those ads shown on his website.

Oh, and people got to vote on which ad to play -- that ad with the Massachussetts resident came in third and won't be playing :) The other two will be played along with the ad Dean is in.

3. They are pretty lame.

If those are the best media that the Dean folks can produce what little hope I had left is quickly slipping away.
