I really don't know who to support in the primaries
I don't know who to trust.

My gut tells me that perhaps Kucinich is the only real deal.

Does he even have a chance??

Or will this be another election where the nominee is "chosen" for us democrats?

Lets face it, we will still have to deal with vote fraud in 2008.

1. I think you should vote for the candidate that most closely
matches your positions on issues of importance to you, and ignore electability. Electability will be determined by that candidates success or failure at the polls.

10. Yes, I agree...
I voted for Clark in the Illinois primary the last time even though Kerry had it pretty much sewn up. I wanted to cast my ballot for the candidate I wanted, not who the MSM wanted. If Kucinich is who you want, then vote for him.

14. That's sensible advice. Follow your principles, if you have to get behind someone NOW
Otherwise, listen to them all, and make your decision at that point. It's not as though one can't change one's mind.

2. If Gore does not run
I will be undecided since I also don't know who to support from all that have already announced. I'd say we have a good crop of candidates.

5. I'm in the same position
Al is far and away my #1 choice. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what he decides to do. If not him, I don't have a clear #2 choice.

4. I forgot to include that in my OP
The elite select.

The media promotes and tells us who is our leader.

The sheep go to the polls.

18. Respectfully Mr Paulk,,,
I believe that is the hope of a lot of people in power. To make people tht would actually vote for their own interests, so discusted that it would push them to not participate in voting.

Thanks for you sarcastic "stay home and vote" cheer.

But, I think I will participate as much as finacially, physcially and morally as possible.

But thanks for the shitty advise. :hi:

20. you seem to imply that there was vote fraud in the primary
process in 2004. That a candidate like Kucinich wouldn't have a chance either then or now because the "elites" wouldn't allow it, rather than the idea that a majority of Democrats just didn't want him as President.

By all means, support DK this time around, but don't come crying when he is (once again) rejected by primary voters.

Did it ever cross your mind that maybe people actually did "vote for their own interests" in 2004?

21. I still can't get out of my mind what happened during 2004
Howard Dean was in the lead up in the north central and northeastern part of the states. Everyone really thought he had a chance. Then came the dean scream. And Kerry, IIRC came out of 3rd or 4th position to become the front runner.

Lost of :tinfoilhat: and speculation at that time about how that happened and many people were very angry about this change of events. In the end we all jumped behind him, sent him money, campaigned, ect for the Dem Candidate.

I still participate in the process even though I don't think it works. I am practicing you know, for when we have real elections again.

22. the Dean scream came AFTER Dean had gone from being
the favorite to getting only 13% in Iowa. Polls in the last two weeks had shown both Kerry and Edwards gaining support. So, neither of them came out of "nowhere".

Most of the tin hat stuff came from disgruntled Dean supporters who had a hard time accepting that the majority of Democrats didn't feel the same way about their chosen candidate that they did.

7. I'm going
Kucinich. We need movement politics in the US. We have already seen huge anti IMF, womens rights, and anti-war protests int he last few years and thye will only get larger..we need to keep the movement in the streets going and have a candidate who will say NO to things like war, taft-hartley, and the WTO.

I was for Kucinich before I was for Kerry.

I suspect Dennis will be my favorite once again.:patriot:

have to decide now? When many of the likely candidates have yet to even declare their candidacy?

9. Yes, the election fraud needs to be straightened
out ASAP... our Dems have a lot to straighten out, and hopefully this is high on the list or we'll end up with the repubs in control again. (I'd also like to see them put an end to all the overseas outsourcing, or at least impose heavy taxes/fines/tariffs on items they want to bring back to sell here, etc...)

13. everybody should vote for who they think is the rea deal....
then the real deal would have a chance. kucinich IS the real deal. i haven't heard a more real deal coming from anyone. the people need a real deal...especially now. kucinich is the man saying what is right. don't we want somebody who is truly going to speak for us. the very least we can do is give the man our vote. and hopefully we'll give him a whole lot more.

15. and i will offer $ if that is what I decide...as I have already expressed
my sentiments in my OP. We have to see who else throws their hat in. IMHO the following hats will be in the ring:

Clinton
Obama
Dodd
Edwards
Kucinich
Clark
Gore
Kerry
Sharpton (possibly)

I know I am missing a few, as I am quite tired, and my brain is on overload. Have not been sleeping well, I wake up and run to DU to see what the heck they have blown up today, everyday. This Iran thing and the Libby trial that will begin next week has me nervous. I have a feeling that the next 6 weeks will be when we wake up to some horrible news regarding the escalation in the middle east. Not just as a distraction, but as perfect timing to launch an attack when there will be impeaching evidence laid at the feet of the American people...for those that read anyway.

I sure know where you're coming from on this one. Some days are very intense for me like that too. But there are other days when I don't let it consume me...well, at least PARTS of days. I figure we gotta try to enjoy the part of life that we DO have control over.
