Lennon's "Give Me Some Truth"
It's the same now as then--policitians who lie. To commemorate Cheney's huge pack of lies and distortions spewed forth yesterday morning on FOX, let's revisit Lennon's great lines:

i'm sick and tired of hearing
things
from uptight-short sighted-
narrow minded hypocritics
all i want is the truth
just give me some truth
i've had enough of reading
things
by nuerotic-pyschotic-
pig headed politicians
all i want is the truth
just give me some truth
no short haired-yellow bellied
son of tricky dicky
is gonna mother hubbard
soft soap me
with just a pocketful of hope
money for dope
money for rope
i'm sick to death of seeing
things
from tight lipped-
condescending -mommies little
chauvinists
all i want is the truth
just give me some truth
i've had enough of watching
scenes
of schizophrenic - ego - centric
- paranoic - prima - donnas
all i want is the truth
just give me some truth

Bless you, John Lennon--still speaking for me!

2.  Still speaks for me too
So long ago when that song first came out I taped it off the LP onto an 8 track through the entire tape so it kept playing none stop and played this for years . I also added (Across the Universe) in there for some balance , you know the "nothings going to change my world " for a little hope .

Mind Games
John Lennon

We're playing those mind games together
Pushing the barriers, planting seeds
Playing the mind guerrilla
Chanting the mantra, peace on earth
We all been playing those mind games forever
Some kinda druid dudes lifting the veil
Doing the mind guerrilla
Some call it magic, the search for the grail

Love is the answer and you know that for sure
Love is a flower, you got to let it, you got to let it grow

So keep on playing those mind games together
Faith in the future, outta the now
You just can't beat on those mind guerrillas
Absolute elsewhere in the stones of your mind
Yeah we're playing those mind games forever
Projecting our images in space and in time

Yes is the answer and you know that for sure
Yes is surrender, you got to let it, you got to let it go

So keep on playing those mind games together
Doing the ritual dance in the sun
Millions of mind guerrillas
Putting their soul power to the karmic wheel
Keep on playing those mind games forever
Raising the spirit of peace and love

Lennon on Love...
"I want you to make love, not war, I know you've heard it before"

Power To The People
John Lennon

Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

Say you want a revolution
We better get on right away
Well you get on your feet
And out on the street

Singing power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

A million workers working for nothing
You better give 'em what they really own
We got to put you down
When we come into town

Singing power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

I gotta ask you comrades and brothers
How do you treat you own woman back home
She got to be herself
So she can free herself

Singing power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on
Now, now, now, now

Oh well, power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

Yeah, power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

4. John and Yoko
Well the war is over if you want it. Don't you remember that tasty little bit of wisdom? And peace is right there for the taking too if you want it. Maybe you don't want it enough.

Look -- John Lennon was a heck of a songwriter. But as a philosopher and commentator on the world scene, he was embarassingly juvenile. I mean truly and utterly childish. War is over if you want it??? No it's not. Not if the other guy keeps fighting.

Think peace? What does that accomplish other than make some hippes feel good about themselves. It changes nothing.

Time to grow up and get your political sense from someone other than a pop star.
