“I know Bush would not have mentioned me in his speech,” Ned Lamont told his beloved Nedheads – more than 300 of whom gathered for a celebratory reunion bash at Bar, where the bloggers and "netroots" activists renewed their determination to fight for change not just in Iraq, but on health care here at home.

...."Although the reunion for the activists, volunteers, bloggers, and supporters of Lamont's 2006 senatorial bid was not planned for the night after President Bush's speech announcing an escalation of the U.S. military presence in Iraq, outrage at the news found its way into Lamont’s heartfelt thanks to his supporters. In his address Wednesday night, Bush singled out Lieberman as a supporter of his Iraq strategy.

“I was running against two guys who said that, yes, the troops might begin coming home in '07 or '08,” he said to a crowd made happy by plentiful pizza, beer, and wine. “But I didn’t know they meant 3008!”

And among the guest list which included many bloggers was the newly self-appointed chairman of the Connecticut for Lieberman party.

John Orman, the affable professor of political science at Fairfield University and political analyst, was having a good time and proud to point out that he had run against Joe Lieberman years before Ned Lamont did. “Ned ran the dream campaign I would have liked to run, only he was much better.” As the new chairman of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party (!), Orman (who staged a takeover when the senator had stopped paying attention to the vehicle he created to run against Lamont after losing the Democratic primary), said that he could simply not allow himself to be photographed with Ned, a member of a different party.

6. I do judge people when they are in the public eye. Not to be vicious, but because

image is everything to people who don't pay attention. Image can make a difference between victory and defeat. Unfortunately for this guy, though, Lieberman is now calling himself something other than a CFL'er. He bills himself as a Democratic/Independent. And if he tries to run again six years from now, he'll probably file as that, as the last article notes:

Orman, meanwhile, promises that his party will be "dedicated to people who want to keep Joe Lieberman accountable."

Now there's a difficult task. It's much easier to start a phony political party.

9. Well, I did go deeper. And concluded that it doesn't matter, because

Holy Joe will simply run under a different banner, if he does run again in 12. CFL is a dead duck already...because Joe is D/I now, not CFL. All the posturing and wound-licking in the world won't change that.

And if it weren't for the fact that Bush is about as popular as a ten day old skunk carcass at a lawn wedding, Joe would probably have jumped to the GOP by now. He'll continue to caucus with the Dems, only because they can do MORE for him. He's an ass, but he isn't stupid.

Look, I'm sorry if you don't like my attitude. I think the professor might be a nice fellow, but he's tilting at a windmill here....as the quote I extrapolated from the article notes.

10. It is not meant to be that serious a matter.

The professor is not stupid, nor am I. I did not take it as a serious matter that would really change anything. I did not expect anyone else to either.

I think it is funny. I think it embarrassed Lieberman a little if anything can.

11. I wonder if anything can embarrass Lieberman. He has "his" seat back, for the next six years.

I rather suspect his attitude is "Who cares what the voters think?" And he probably figures if he brings home just enough bacon to the state (dietary laws notwithstanding) through his contacts with corporate GOP thugs, they'll return him to "his" seat, if he wants it, again. He's not lacking in hubris, certainly.

I am so angry about Joe's statement on Katrina. I am going to call some congress people on that. To think Joe could say that and get away with it is beyond believable. And what he said about Iraq pre-war is worse.

Lieberman doesn't want to to see us "digging around anymore for who did what in 2003"

8. It annoys me that Obama is saying he doesn't want Iraq war investigations, either

and makes certain to say so on national shows like Larry King both times he popped up over the last month and has done the same on other shows. So, WHO of the inner DC elite is he trying to signal and please with those remarks?

Seems to me that any real antiwar Dem would be working to assure that the leadup to that war is exposed so it could not happen again.

“I think we should take the troops out of Baghdad immediately,” he said. “Shia and Sunni agree on only one thing, and that is that it’s OK to kill Americans. Bush doesn’t listen to his generals, to his commission, or to Maliki, who doesn’t want us, or to the votes of the American people. So, now, I think it’s time for Americans to stand up,” he said.

Then a voice called out from the attentive crowd: “We did, Ned, with you,” followed by rousing applause.
