3. DPAC - Opera House?
Great pictures

Is that the Denver Performance Arts Complex Opera House?

FYI, It's across the street from the current Denver Convention Center. I wonder if they are going to use any of the DPAC for the Convention?

4. Yes it used to be called the City Auditorium.
In 1908 only Madison Square Garden was bigger.

And from what I hear, everything will be at the Pepsi Center. The Convention Center can't handle the TV broadcasts.

5. My, how the party has changed. Not just in appearance, but check out the Dem platform:
http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/platforms.php

All the platforms are there. Wow! Lots of great historical info. The Repugs used to be the party of racial equality and the Dems were just dumb about it. That was then, of course, and this is now.

7. I didn't read it all, but..
I like the conclusion:

Conclusion

The Democratic party stands for Democracy; the Republican party has drawn to itself all that is aristocratic and plutocratic.

The Democratic party is the champion of equal rights and opportunities to all; the Republican party is the party of privilege and private monopoly. The Democratic party listens to the voice of the whole people and gauges progress by the prosperity and advancement of the average man; the Republican party is subservient to the comparatively few who are the beneficiaries of governmental favoritism. We invite the co-operation of all, regardless of previous political affiliation or past differences, who desire to preserve a government of the people, by the people and for the people and who favor such an administration of the government as will insure, as far as human wisdom can, that each citizen shall draw from society a reward commensurate with his contribution to the welfare of society.

9. The Repugs in their platform talked about equality for the "Negroes" early on. The Dems
Edited on Thu Jan-11-07 05:59 PM by tblue
didn't mention the subject in theirs until much later. In fact, they defended slavery in every platform for a many years, you can see it on that site. I am black, and I have never been and never will be a Repug because, thank God, the Dem party saw the light and did a 180. And we all know what happened to the Repugs (taken over by the bigots formerly known as Dixiecrats), and how they never looked back. I guess the Repugs were always elitist, per your post, and that hasn't changed to this day. I will always remember the courage of Hubert Humphrey and Harry Truman and other Dems who moved the party in the right direction in terms of racial equality, while the Repugs began exploiting racial divisions for political gain.

And there are some related video clips on the bottom right.

Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures.
