Dick Durbin: Help me set the Senate's agenda
First off, if this has already been posted, could I get a Mod to combine with the other one? - I did a search for Durbin and didn't find anything.

Earlier today Senator Durbin stopped by DailyKos and posted a diary asking us to Help set the Senate's agenda by ranking issues in order of importance as we see them individually.

Just a few comments from his not-too-long diary:

Tell me what priorities you want the Senate to focus on. Click here to rank the most important issues facing America now! {snip}

Rank the issues that you want the Senate to focus on first! {snip}

S.1 -- Ethics & lobbying reform
S.2 -- Increasing the minimum wage
S.3 -- Lowering prescription drug prices for seniors
S.4 -- Fully implementing all 9/11 Commission recommendations
S.5 -- Expanding stem cell research
S.6 -- Developing new technology to promote energy independence
S.7 -- Making college more affordable
S.8 -- Rebuilding America's military
S.9 -- Immigration reform
S.10 -- Reinstating "Pay As You Go" rules for the federal budget {snip}

UPDATE #2 (3:45pm ET): One last thought. You've all raised some very important issues. Some have wondered why certain issues weren't included in the poll we're taking at http://www.dickdurbin.com. Just so you know, we started off with S.1 through S.10, as well as Iraq oversight -- but we recognize there is much more work to do. This may be where we're starting in the Senate -- but we're not going to stop after these first 10 bills. Thanks for all of the useful feedback you've provided in the comments!

Please recommended so that DU'ers entering the site at the Greatest Page can see Senator Durbin's request and participate, and don't forget to pass Durbin's link on to your friends and family.

2. Increasing the minimum wage
3. Making college more affordable
4. Ethics & lobbying reform
5. Developing new technology to promote energy independence

Actually, after #1 I had a really hard time trying to prioritize these. As far as I'm concerned, they all need to be done - yesterday!

5. K & R
I rather like that..."What do you, our employers, want us to implement first?"

And yes, it does cover some collective ass. So?

6. Tell him to get Impeachment on that list. It's meaningless without it. . .
. . .just as their laundry list of issues is meaningless as long as we are trapped in Bush World. (http://journals.democraticunderground.com/pat_k/19">link).

Impeachment IS Our positive agenda!

7. UPDATE
Thanks for the recommends to put this on the Greatest Page - it's much appreciated.

Just thought I'd update and say (in case you didn't know) that Dick Durbin is going to be giving the Dem response to *'s speech tonight.

Hope he say's something about the fact that the troops are already poised and ready to go in Iraq.

AND I'd like to take this opportunity to give a big fat (even tho I'm skinny) middle finger right back at *.
