1. I saw it
A bit slow, decent story, some really nice parts, Matt Damon nude in a coffin...

Hey, worth a matinee.

3. I loved it
Matt Damon is cold as ice, he really does a great job. Its a bit long, but never tiring. I highly recommend.

4. Did the storyline have any worthwhile content or was it just Hollywood make-believe?

6. It reveals the true political power of Skull and Bones
This movie is a must-see for DU-ers. It will make you wonder how much of what happens in this country is because people like the Bushes and all the other Skull and Bones members hold blackmailable power over one another.

5. Not yet...

...but I recently got Clubman glasses like the ones Matt Damon wears in the movie. I wore them as sunglasses in the '80s, and when I was recently shopping for a good frame for progressive lenses I came back to this style. They're too cool, in 3 weeks I've already got tons of compliments. How many people do you know get compliments on their bifocals?

I look like the hip, geeky, sexy, librarian Laura never really was.

edited to add "sexy"!

7. It's very good. Long though - three hours.
But it's not slow - just thought I'd warn you in case you had a schedule to keep like I did that day - and wound up running late! Oops.

Makes you want to find out more - and there are many resources available at the film's website: www.thegoodshepherdmovie.com. I plan on reading one or two of the books/articles listed myself.

11. Yes.
Good overall but the love plot was overstrained. Angelina Jolie was to pretty for Matt Damon, and thus a bit of a spoiler.

12. Joe Pesci's character said...
"You know, we Italians have our families and the church, the Irish have the homeland, the Jews their tradition, the niggers their music. What do you guys have?"

Matt Damon's CIA character responded; "We have the United States of America, the rest of you are just visiting"

13. Well I didn't like the
Black spy being thrown from the plane....her and her suitcase.

Seems like the American Imperialistic underworld is rich enough to have downed the entire plane, IYAM! Guess that since she was Black, she wasn't worth the expense! That's how I interpreted that whole sickening scene!

Apart from that slow but intriguing.

The Jolie character is never really someone you would care about; a pheriphiral role at best.
The son seemed, well weird!

14. Black spy being thrown from the plane? / why waste the plane? the wreckage
may have been found, throwing her out in the jungle and never being recovered would be a CIA thing?

16. A Plane accident is more in the line of CIA, IMO
as opposed to a "missing" passenger, IMO!

So folks get off the plane....and where is she? What's the explanation?

Naw, downing the plane would be much more in line with what the CIA would do.

17. Everybody on the plane was part of the plot
Edited on Wed Jan-10-07 01:43 AM by rockymountaindem
There were, IIRC, only 3 other people on the plane. The pilot, the co-pilot and the other passenger, the latter two of whom were the ones throwing her out the door while the pilot stayed at the controls.

15. i loved the line spoken from the russian being interrogated.
About Russia being nothing but 'rust' and broken down equipment, never a true superpower but America needed to sustain that threat to justify it's global hegemony.

it reminds me different enemy same motif. bad guys justifying the pentagon existence.

when in our own backyards 9/11 happened on Bush's watch and katrina happened with no sufficient protection of US citizens.

the whole movie seems to say it's all a joke CIA , world govt' activities, etc.. but seeing the interview with Robert Daniero, you almost think he does not understand the real underlying plot that the scriptwriter was intoning. Daniero thinks you gotta have a CIA but manage their powers.. that's like giving candy to a baby and asking them not to eat it!

that one's family is all that matters.
that global spy games waste money, cause unnecessary deaths and ultimately do nothing for any country.

that's my take away and I give the movie a 5 Stars for writing and the actors/actresses for delivering a stellar performance.

Oh yeah and the implication that the head of KGB russia would want to maintain friendship with Ed Wilson/Damon character in case anything goes down was most realistic, kinda like a criminal to a criminal saying, 'can I count on you to give me safe haven if the KGB are ever shown out of russia' the way I'm sure Cheney has similar agreements with other countries for the day we show him to the US door and tell him not to let the door hit him in the butt on the way out!
