:wtf:

In addition to the dubious headline, the freep thread contains, of course, the usual unintentionally humorous ramblings of the weakminded.

1. WTF?
"Dead, like Elizabeth Montgomery!"

Am I that bad at nuance, or is this freeper more versed in it than me?

4. Ugh, how offensive. But if the guy is dead, he died after going on TV today...

5. The PJ Media has been squawking about this lie the past few days like
a Drudge Siren Headline.

Already been debunked. Malkin and her ilk are quickly slumming back into the dark corners of their parent's basements from where they crawled.

6. He was on TV today? (mmph...snicker!) Uh-oh, looks like another wingnut "OOPSIE!"
Just like their denial that Jamal Hussein existed--and their embarrassment when Associated Press proved it--and their now-famous "Lonely Kerry photo" idiocy.

I didn't think Wingnuttia could get any stupider or crazier, but as usual, I'm wrong!

10. They continue their downward spiral into nutsville.
They never had the facts on their side and they never will. Their time is up and we'll eventually will find some time to rejoin the fact-based media in our country.

13. The Baby Shah clan has been reporting that the guy is sick, and that is likely true
But those guys aren't shopping the deathbed rumors.

The weight loss and the rumors from other sources that he's in and out of hospital taken into consideration, he's probably got some significant medical issues. But I don't think the guy is anywhere near death...at least not yet. He probably has at least months, maybe even longer, depending if he has anything that can respond to chemo. The only rumors I have heard is some type of cancer, and it varies depending on who you ask. And clearly, if he's on a balcony in Qom, he AIN'T in Vanak. It isn't an impossible ride from Teheran to Qom, but it takes quite a while, and that road, though well graded, runs out of tarmac about half way there and you do without it for a good distance--it ain't an easy ride.

It just is not helpful for people to bullshit this stuff. Wishful thinking isn't going to kill someone,no matter how ardently they hope for it. All it does is make them look like flaky and really dumb muthas, but then, that's not new, is it?

I think El Supreme is well enough to continue to make decisions, and the odds are good he is doing a Pope John Paul II - style "let's have a chit-chat" with the members of the Guardian Council (like JP2 did with many in the College of Cardinals) to try to influence their choice of successor. Hey, it worked for JP2...his boy got the gig...

15. And as far as we know
Osama's kidney's are still functioning.

I'm not denying the Ayatollahs health, merely pointing out how they have been oh so wrong, oh so many times.

16. I know...I've often pictured Osama tooling up a mountain, dialysis machine in tow...!
I have a theory about that kidney tale with OBL...it's real easy to get horribly dehydrated out that way, especially if you come from a climate where it's not so dry to Saudi Arabia or any desert area...you can get horribly dehydrated in a hurry and end up flat on your back out cold. I often wonder if Osama allowed himself to dehydrate and he was seen in the hospital getting rehydrated, and the intel got fucked up.

Or maybe it's just one of those Bigass Lies. They do have a way of floating around!

It's true, the only way we'll know about El Supremo is if he tells us, or if he dies and they announce a cause of death. For all we really know, his doctor could have yelled at him about his cholesterol and told him to lay off the fatty lamb kebabs and the buttery sweets, resulting in a bit of weight loss!

7. LOL.... look at their protest !!!!
A thread over there asks for 20,000 freepers to show up to protest something or other.

One of them later writes in saying that a good crowd of 5 or 6 people showed up!

11. See that asswipe with the Protect Liberty, Stand Beside Her sign?
Liberty would doubtless take out a restraining order if that clown got too close.

AWW, though...it wasn't five or six. I count seven, total, if you include the poor baby there...

3. The rumor that he is ill has been floated for awhile; the Babyshah crowd amongst others
are suggesting that he has pancreatic cancer or something on those lines. The rumor mill said that he was laid up in Vanak Hospital clinging to life, or at least very sick. He had not been seen for some time, but his family said he was going to lead prayers on Monday (today). Well, according to the Chinese press he was talking on Monday, ON TV (kinda hard to fake that--could be prerecorded so he could get back to Vanak, but it sort of kills the idea that the guy is dead.): http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2007-01/08/content_5580250.htm

TEHRAN, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed on Monday that his country would not retreat from its legal right over the controversial nuclear program, the state television reported.

According to the television, Khamenei said "there's no doubt the Iranian nation won't retreat from their right (of nuclear technology) and officials of the country have no right to retreat from the nation's right".

The leader also warned the U.S., Britain and some Arab countries not to form an alliance against Iran. ....The UN Security Council adopted Resolution 1737 on Dec. 23, 2006 to imposed sanctions over Iran's nuclear issue, demanding the Islamic Republic to "suspend all enrichment-related and reprocessing activities, including research and development, and work on all heavy water-related projects."

The resolution also called on all states to impose a ban on trade with Iran in goods related to its nuclear program and ballistic missile delivery systems.

However, Iran has been keeping its hardline stance and pledged not to bend under the international pressure. ...

8. Ah, guess what kids, there's MORE!!! This is embarassing to the wingers, for sure
This isn't a Chinese paper, this is ABC news.

First there was the "John Kerry eats alone" thing that was debunked, then there was the "there's no such guy as Captain Jamil Hussein, the AP is LYING" thing that was shot down, and now this--it looks like the pajama crowd might want to think about taking a shower and getting dressed(!!!!!)because their quality of reportage sucks a dead dog's ass, frankly:

IRAN'S AYATOLLAH APPEARS IN GOOD HEALTH
Iranian Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Appears in Relatively Good Health in Speech Outside Home

TEHRAN, Iran Jan 8, 2007 (AP)— Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, looked thinner than usual and sounded as if he had a cold, but seemed otherwise in good health when he appeared on television Monday.

Video broadcast last month of Khamenei, 67, who has the final word on all matters in Iran, suggested he had lost weight and raised concerns about his health. The pictures provoked speculation on foreign Web sites, but there was nothing solid in Tehran to back up the Internet rumors.

Khamenei's office and the government have issued no report on his health.

On Monday, Khamenei addressed hundreds of citizens of Qom, a holy city 80 miles south of Tehran, who gathered outside his residence in the city center.

Speaking from a first-story balcony, Khamenei reiterated that Iran would never back down on its enrichment of uranium, a process that produces the ingredients for nuclear reactors as well as weapons. Last month, the U.N. Security Council imposed limited trade sanctions on Iran because it refused to halt enrichment. .....
