That Wacky George W. Bush Cracks Me Up

OK, I admit it, I don’t give George W. Bush credit for being a funny guy and being able to tell a gut-busting joke at exactly the right moment and I'm now willing to admit that perhaps there's more value to him than meets the eye -- at least, in the comic-relief sense.

Here he was this morning after his first cabinet meeting of 2007 referring to the new Democratic Congress and saying "It's time to set aside politics and focus on the future."

Now that's funny, funny stuff. Pure gold, as the stand-up comedians say.

This is the same guy who went around for weeks before having his ass handed to him in the midterm elections saying that these same Congressional Democrats had "no plan" for national security -- even though he knew they did -- and implying at all opportunities that every Democrat from Harry Reid to the guy who sweeps the new Senate Majority Leader's office just loves terrorists and wishes we could invite them all to crash the border and live here.

How funny is this set-aside-politics shtick given that this is the very same president who had his House and Senate henchmen do everything in their power to do absolutely nothing for two years, abandon their Congressional oversight role so he could run wild and squash any Democratic initiative that somehow slipped through to the floor for a vote?

"It's time to set aside politics." Stop, Georgie. You're killin' me here.

I've never really been one to get that kind of absurd humor -- hey, maybe that's why that hilarious uniter-not-a-divider joke from the 2000 election went right over my head.

Closely rivaled by limbaugh's comedic take on a Parkinson's disease sufferers motions.

their own policies over the past several years! It's a joke, all right!

3. What is sickening
is the continued "hero worship" the press gives bush. The democrats HAVE to break up the big corporate ownership of the media. The message of what is really happening in this country will never be heard as long as they control everything. A perfect is...the Washington Post. Does anybody remember when the Post was a fresh voice and held the republicans AND the democrats accountable for their actions. Now they are bigger bush butt kissers than the WSJ.
