Watch Fox now for replay of Cheney/Steven Ford interception!
Edited on Sat Dec-30-06 09:53 PM by partylessinOhio
Coming up soon after closing prayer on now.

Edit to add:

It was priceless to watch the second time. The look on Lynne Cheney when she saw the Ford sons moving quickly to go to the aid of their mother.

Then to see DED first looking at Steven who whisked Betty out of his grip and secondly looking at the next son who moved between him and Betty. I swear DED's bald head did turn red. It was priceless.

5. Cheney took Betty to Gerald Ford's casket when it should have been
a private family moment. Steven, her son, then took her hand and walked Betty around to the other side of the casket leaving Cheney standing there.

11. It looked to me like Cheney was doing what he was supposed to do since he
was sitting next to Mrs. Ford and her children were a row back. He escorted her part of the way, pointed to her which direction she should go and then stepped back to allow her son to take over.

7. Yes, her son motioned Cheney out of the way
Her sons would escort her to the coffin.

9. Here is a link to the C-span video
The event with Cheney and the sons occurs at about 50 minutes into the video.

http://www.c-span.org/

Go to the audio video section under recent programs and click on the highlighted "Fmr. Pres. Ford Funeral Service, U.S. Capitol".

It didn't seem as dramatic as the DU member accounts of it to me but judge for yourself.

10. I agree - it didn't seem to me to be as obvious a snub as described
But what was most jarring was the deafening sound of cameras clicking when Mrs. Ford approached the casket. I know this is an important moment to be captured for posterity and the press was just doing their jobs, but it must be very strange to have that sound all around you during such a tender moment. Of course, Mrs. Ford has been a public figure for more than 30 years, so she's probably quite used to it, but it was interesting.

12. I really think that is Jack Ford...
not Steven Ford. In fact I know it's Jack. Steven used to be on "The Young and the Restless" (which I watched while he was on it) and Steven was the one that glared at Cheney and got between Cheney and Betty Ford after Jack took his mother away from Cheney.
