Do Domain Registrations Predict Republican '08 Ticket?

by Rob Kall

Want to get an idea of possible matchups for the Republican 2008 ticket? I was curious, so I searched the web for websites registered for different match-ups of the two most popular candidates. All of the domain names below have been registered. Not all are operational. My guess is that many have been purchased by speculators. Most likely, the final website will just use the presidential candidate's name. But that doesn't stop people from registering domain names.

There are some interesting, fun combinations to think about here. Some may have been registered in 2004. Some were clearly registered before the 2006 election debacles of George Allen, Rick Santorum, and Mike DeWine. A few may have nothing to do with the 2008 race, but I threw them in because I don't necessarily know every potential candidate.

Which do you think is most likely? Least likely? Funniest?

1. Are Giuliani and McCain their only two candidates?
The registrations appear as though all the eggs have been placed in two baskets. Surely there are more Republican presidential contenders than just those two. If not, it appears they are resigned to the fact that they are going to lose in 2008.
